benchmade 710d2 worth the money

I have a large collection of folders, all tried as EDCs, and the Benchmade 710D2 is my favorite. I believe it is well worth the money.

I'm betting a whole bunch of people are going to have the same opinion.

thanks guys its a close call between the bm710 d2 and spyderco para milltary but i cabt choose
 
mmm... i would have to go with the BM over the spydie. You cant go wrong with a BM, especially a 710d2. i used to have one and thought about buying another, since i traded my other one. Definitely get it though, you will like it, i know i do. the only downside to the thing is that it is just impossible to sharpen, seeing that it is d2 with a 62rc heat treat!:D
 
Odd that I would agree with a Ducati guy and disagree (partially) with a Ruger man, but -I'm pretty sure my 710d2 would be the last knife I'd give up and I don't find it impossible (just fairly difficult) to sharpen. All of my other EDC candidates (BM, Spyderco, Kershaw, SOG, etc.) have lost out to the 710. Find Joe Talmadge's articles about using the Sharpmaker to spiff up the edge and go to it!!
 
I have a 710d2 and it is my favorite folder. No doubt about it!
It is well worth the money to get one.

Yes i would get it over a spyderco para

Yes as with most D2 its difficult but not impossible to sharpen

No its not hardened to 62, per the benchmade site its 59-61Rc

I had the same problem particularly with recurves & harder steels.
I got the sharpmaker diamond tri-rods & just use the corners on recurves.
They come out razor sharp without too much trouble now.
 
para - more useful EDC to me. I carry it a lot more then the 710. The para is available in D2
 
Totally worth it. I have not had much trouble sharpening mine, it just takes a little practise.

I never seen one in 154CM,was that what they upgraded to D2 from?

I seen a couple on the bay in M2 & they are waaay out of my budget :(

Yeah they used to be 154cm. I've got the 705 (smaller version of 710) in 154cm and its a great knife. Just a little thick in the handles (for its size).
