Benchmade 733 as an EDC?

Hello All,

Long time listener, first time caller.

I'm considering a Benchmade 773 to be my next EDC (I usually switch out every year or so). I'm concerned about the durability of a knife that weighs in at 1.7 oz. I'd like to here some opinions from some 733 owners. Needless to say, I don't plan on using this knife to cut down telephone poles or clear trees from my lot (I have knives for that :)) It will be used as a "gentleman's EDC" for the lack of a better term.

I've been carrying a Rainbow Leek ever since they came out and must say that I'm impressed with the overall durability of both the blade and finish. It's just that time to switch again.

Your opinions will be appreciated.

773, Osborne, I presume since there is no 73X's (?).

Well, it's discontinued, so unless you have know of a place to pick one up it may be difficult to find...

I have never handled this knife. I myself, am going to try stay away from aluminum handels because they scratch (even from where the clip contacts the handle). It looks like a good gent's knife. BC is a good coating for scratch resistance, but if used as a gent's knife, it shouldn't see a whole lot of work so a satin finish may fine.

Yep, that's the one. After I posted I came across this review. Sounded positive for the most part. As far as being discontinued, I found one online for $89.00. If anyone has a recommendation for a similar alternative, I'd like to here it.

Thanks again.

There are a few 73x knives. The 732BT is a regular production knife, and the 733-01 and 733-02 were both limited to 500 with S30V blades. Very nice knives.

Stonehenge69: I carry a 770 on me on the weekends, and when I head out anywhere after work. It's a great little knife, and easily one of the smoothest opening knives that I have. I love the smaller size and feel of the knife for a light duty knife.
