Benchmade 940-2 QC issue

If people sent all their knives in that had something as minor as that we'd be sending every other production knife in to be fixed.

If it bothers you that much, send it in. If it doen't, I'd just enjoy the knife. I personally wouldn't, but it is your knife afterall.

While I understand what you are trying to convey it would still bother me to pay that much money for something that looks used. If it was a walmart special Id say who cares but I would expect better for the cost.

My 949-2 also has a bit of smoothness there but less than yours. It's a first production drawer queen, I've only carried it a few times so not from wear. It doesn't bother me. Use it and enjoy it. It's light and strong. The action is so precise. No play yet falls free. My Sebenza is crude by comparison.

Its a gift she wants to see you carry. I would keep it and enjoy. If there was a mechanical issue or a chip in the blade, that would be different. Dont sweat the small stuff. Enjoy. In 6 months you will hardley notice.

If it really drives you nuts send it in...otherwise document it and let it ride. I will say I no longer buy Benchmade sight unseen.
I find the quality control poor in my experience. I have many of them, and love them all but the QC is problematic.

FWIW the last 2 I bought (both Infidels) were perfect. But the REI special edition 531 I carry every day required sorting through
inventory at the local store twice to get a decent one. And their grips ranged from acceptable to horrific.

I have never contacted Benchmade about this, but I find it unsettling.

They seem great for service after the sale so there is that.

Exercise it.

I just got mine after an exchange already and it’s so much worse, bald as hell and returning it right now!
