Back in the Summer of 2005 when I really got into knives the 940 in 154CM was my favorite folder. Just the right balance of blade length, blade shape, texture of the aluminum, etc. and to this day my absolute favorite Benchmade! I got several others after 2005 and this year I'm really excited about the 940-1 with S90V blade and CF handle. Never used my 943 but feel that it belongs in this family.

The two others I have are limited editions (second and third from the top) but the biggest problem with them is that the handles seem painted and it shows wear fast. I stopped carrying them after a very short while due to the way they showed scratches. The one from 2005 even though it has been carried a lot more shows very little in terms of scratches.

Let's see yours!

Mine from top to bottom:

  1. 940SBK (154CM, purple anodized titanium backspacer)
  2. 940BK (154CM, NRA, gray handle, blue anodized titanium backspacer, 392 of 500)
  3. 940SBK (S30V, black handle, silver anodized titanium backspacer, 242 of 300)
  4. 940 (S30V, purple anodized titanium backspacer)
  5. 943 (S30V, blue anodized titanium backspacer)

I have two 940s: One (identical to the first one in your pics) that's been with me since ~2000 and seeded my love affair with BM and knives in general -- and the other LE with M4+Titanium/CF pictured below. The 940 is definitely my favorite Benchmade and possibly my favorite design overall; looking forward to the 940-1. Had a 943 but gave it away here on Bladeforums because I have more knives than I need and it wasn't really getting used.

Here is mine in Titanium. The 940 is my all time favorite production knife. If I could only keep one this would be it. But with the CF s90v version coming out soon that may change.

Totally! S90V + Titanium handles for the killer looks!

Although you can't argue with the lighter CF handles which also look great. Regular 940 weighs 2.9 oz. and the CF 2.44 oz. I'm guessing that the Ti one probably weighs closer to 3.5 oz. Curious to know.

This is one Benchmade I have had one my list, should of just bought it over the barrage and mini presidio, ended up trading both anyway.

Within the context of it's intended use the 940 is superb. Show me a general use EDC folder and my mind immediately compares it to my 940, so it's kind of a benchmark folder to me.

I'm glad I got some nice Benchmades before the price hike. I have no plans to buy BM now...except maybe the 940-1...damn them, it's just too tempting. Or better yet, hope for a 943-1.

My photography sux, but my blades are sharp :)

Although I'm not a fan of Ti as grips, that really looks nice. How's the weight of that? I'm assuming that's not a regular stock item.

The titanium and CF handles are arguably the nicest looking ones. I'm also curious to know the weight of the titanium handle one.

Regular 940 weighs 2.9 oz. and the CF 2.44 oz (940-1). I'm guessing that the Ti one probably weighs closer to 3.5 oz.

BM's website lists the BM 940 Ti-01 as 2.67 oz.
