thanks for the reply when I put a drop in the sides of the blade will it go to both the washers and pivot or not ?I don’t lube my Benchmades very much, as mine tend to work best for me with broken-in phosphor bronze washers and relatively dry. Too much lube and they get get gummed up with the degrading lube and all the stuff that likes to stick to it. When I do lube them, it’s just a very very light coat of CLP on the washers, blade tang, and pivot when the knife is disassembled. I usually only drop lube into the pivot on an assembled knife if it got seriously gunked up somehow, just to achieve reasonable operation until I can disassemble and clean it up again.
If you’re not the type to take your knives apart to maintain them, a light application to both sides of the blade tang at the pivot should be all you need.
Ok so to confirm just a little drop either side of the blade to get to the washers/pivot a little bit on the blade tang ? How often should I do this ? And u don’t put any us the axis lock holes ? Thanks so much for your help your a heroGiven that you’re using an adequately thin liquid lube, not like a grease, it should spread out just fine on its own with regular operation.
but the locations of were I put the lube is correct ?How much really depends on the lube you’re using and your need/desired results. Suffice it to say, more is generally never better with wet lubes, due to the dirt they collect if applied too liberally, and their propensity to seep out under various conditions. You’ll figure out what works best for you over time. That said, you’re likely not going to completely ruin anything during your trial and error. There’s really no one answer, and a million opinions. Everybody likes what they like. I use CLP because I always have it on hand for my guns, and don’t believe in “magic” expensive lubes that somehow only work for folding knives. Needle applicators are definitely nice, though, to better control what you’re putting on to where, and to keep from getting crazy.
Sorry the image isn’t working but it’s the bit of the blade that slides near the axis bar I meanI don't see an image.
