Benchmade 940 or 945 - anyone have both?

Beyond the obvious size difference between the two, the 940 is a closed back design and the 945 has spacers. I agree with people that say the open back is easier to clean but that's not to say I agree the closed back is difficult to clean. But it's an obvious difference in the design of the two. The 940-1, 2, 3 and beyond are all open back and I'm pretty sure all the 945 series are all open back.

I'm waiting for a larger version. Wouldn't say I have huge hands, but the 940 was just too small for my liking. I've tried twice, and love the shape, but ended up selling them both 🫤

I have them both.

I gave in to the many positive reviews.

The QC on either is absolutely awful. Not worth the price then, definitely not worth the price now.

It's your money, spend it how you want.

Just be ready to do a lot of maintenance and tinkering. If you like doing that, either of these knives would be right for you.
My Custom Shop 940, came pretty close to perfect. Centered blade, smooth, no tinkering necessary. Wasn't quite as sharp as I like, but certainly useable.

If the OP has not made his decision by now, some 15 months after he asked the question, then I think further input is fruitless.
