I love mine, a plain Jane one just like the one you ordered. One of my favorite knives. You will love it.

Seriously, I have bought 3 different models of 940's, a 943, and a few Hunt models and had ZERO complaints.

I'm very afraid of visual wear but decided to go with the original 940 anyways. Wish me luck lol
 
Very afraid?? Why not a G10 model?? The -1501 is fantastic! The -1 is also amazing!
But ok.
 
Definitely one of Benchmade's best knives. It is too bad mine came with a pivot that has blade play or if you tighten the play out of the pivot it no longer opens and closes easily. There just seems to be no sweet spot where there is no play yet the knife is smooth. I love the knife all the same. luckily the Axis lock is a type of lock where a little side to side play has absolutely no effect on the knife's performance.

The 940 is an extremely comfortable knife, just disappears in the pocket and use as it is just so slim and lightweight. There are few folders with a blade as long as the 940 in such a lightweight and easy to pocket package.
 
I must say when I got my first 940 I was not impressed with it . I traded it . I gave it a second chance and now I own 5 . My favorite Benchmade by far . The 940-1 is my main user .

I want to experience with different materials as I have too manu G10s and the -2 model wasn't available in Canada
