Benchmade 940 vs. DPx HEST

Hi everyone,

I'm debating to add either of these folders into my collection. I have a number of folders that I use on a regular basis at my job. I have S30V, VG10, 154CM, etc. folders and I've put them through their paces. I'm considering the Benchmade 940 because I love it's sleek design and blade shape. Plus the AXIS lock is rather great. On the other hand, a colleague of mine told me that the D2 steel of the DPx HEST would be able to retain a better edge over repeated use, it's lock is incredibly strong and rather compact for a work-site folder. If you have an opinion, please share!

Comparing the two is impossible. These two have nothing in common and are a true example of night and day difference.

That being said, I say get the 940. It's the better EDC overall in my opinion. I may be a bit biased though because I own and love the 940, but always hated the HEST. It has a very thick blade, and the rotolock always engages itself when you don't want it to. Among other reasons, but I don't want to rant...

Get the 940!:D

My opinion is much like McBokerson's....the thick, ungodly-thick blade, rotolock (ridiculous) and sort of a brick.
I know...I know...that other folks love 'em...
I have had a 940 and thought it was a nice folder.
Of course, this stuff is all about opinions...and they vary widely.

Surely you guys aren't naysaying "the knife you can rely on to save your life." ;)

I love my 940. I'll have to google what the other one looks like after I hit 'submit.' :)

Edit - frame lock? Nope, lol.

940......period!
Wound up with 4 of them......I have sons that love to 'borrow' dad's knives for a really long time!
Excellent EDC that is super sexy!
You'll love it!
Also take a look at the 943. Different blade shape that slices beautifully!
