Hey guys, I have a bnib benchmade 940bk-2003. Lower number 151. This thing is in perfect condition, centered blade, solid lockup. Comes with original box and papers.

asking 550 ==> 500 shipped

Very interesting about the black thumb studs. I wonder why and if it makes them more rare and therefore more valuable???!!! Anyone have any info on this? Also, I have #15.

I don't wanna muck up this guy's thread anymore(some guys get real mad about it) but since I can't PM you I'll reply here. So from what I've seen the only ones so far I know of have all come from DLT. They had some very low numbers too. I know a few guys who got theirs from DLT and that includes me and we all got black thumbstuds. You said you have #15, does yours have a black stud and if so do you mind me asking where it was bought from?

Well at this point, it is thoroughly mucked up I haven’t really noticed the studs being blacked out noticeably more than the blade and handles, they’re very close. I think the lighting messed with the pics a little. But I bought it from a premium plus dealer called Shepherd Hills factory outlets in Missouri.
 
My apologies but it may help selling your knife or increase its value even more in that it is a very rare for this to have black thumb studs rather than the sapphire thumb studs shown on the Benchmade website. I have several of these and I did check on my serial #15 that I got from DLT and it has black thumb studs as well. All my others have sapphire thumb studs. My apologies again, I’m new to the forum and won’t comment on items for sale anymore unless I’m buying.
