sgtmike,
I would choose the military for a general purpose knife. The AFCK is a nice looking knife and does ok in the utility department, but it is more of a fighting design. The military is more of a worker. It has a good handle shape and a thumb hole that is useable even when wearing gloves. It has a strong ball detent that keeps the knife closed in your pocket.
All "best steel" arguments asside, the CPM steel used in the military really holds an edge for a long time. Likewise, one can argue the merits of plain and serrated edges but the military is available in either.
I am not slamming the AFCK. I had one before I bought the military, sold it and bought another one after I got the military. The AFCK is a classic design. That said, The military is also a classic and it serves better at general utility.
