Benchmade Axcaliber

Well, this is my deepest dive ever into Benchmade's past. I recently purchased a Kodiak from another member(what a sweet knife) and in the brochure there was a picture of this Axcaliber. From what I can tell it was rather large with a really WICKED blade. As always I am just looking for any information you can give me...blade steel..size dimensions......and opinions always welcome whether good or bad. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.

p.s. - a real picture would be great

Dark Nemesis - I must make comment on your slogan, as I find it offensive.

Please bear in mind that Les deAsis is a long time personal close friend. Also I believe that Benchmade makes excellent products. I appreciate loyalty that good companies attract and I believe this to be good and necessary. Spyderco has a few loyal ELUs and delaers as well.

However, I might point out that "All God's critters have knives" is a registered trade mark of Spyderco and cannot legaly be used in connection with any other company.

I might also point out that it is a bit "tacky" to post such a slogan on a forum where Spyderco is extendeing the time and effort to maintain a forum site.

I should also point out that it isn't true (unless Benchmade is lying to D & B and me).

I would request that you demonstrate the proper wisdom and courtesy to adjust your slogan on this forum. thank you.

Sal:

That was not made to get under anyones skin. I repsect all of the knife companies for producing high quality products, and I infact own several Spyderco Knives. If I remember right I just thought of that really late one night and stuck with it. The last thing I want to do is upset anyone.

Oh I forgot to ask, did you actually have any information on the BM Axcaliber and just forget to post it.

Other than I remember seeing it, no. I just thought to convey my thoughts on a thread that would attract less attention. I respect your random thought...sometimes one must "Think twice" as Chris Reeve says. I appreciate your sensitivity.

Sal:

I went back and deleted the signature from the last five posts that I remember making today, but there are over 100 other posts. If you really really want me to, I will spend the rest of the night taking it off every post I have made, please let me know as it is going to take some time if the answer is yes

Hey, Dark Nemesis - I just wanted to say thanks, too. Your signature never bugged me much, but I appreciate your sensitivity in removing it. Just for that I'll lay off trying to convert you to Spydies for a whole month ;-)

Dark - no need to. Your response was about as "proper" and courteous as could have possibly been done. Thank you. No need to blow your time. All's cool.

Is this the same thing as the "Samson Axe" or another Benchmade Axe? That seems unlikely, but I only ever heard this beast referred to as a "Samson Axe" so I don't know if it had another name or not. It shares the same handle as the Delta Raider and had a profile quite like the "Uluchet" pictured last month (a "bearded" axe taken to the extreme). I have no idea what the steel was, but I assume a high-carbon tool-grade because I remember a heavy black coating.

I'll talk to some folks who spent more time with it than I did and see what they remember.
