I just bought a new Benchmade Axis Flipper (300-1)...
The issue is that the flipper won't open the blade unless I flick it hard.
This doesn't seem to be a break in issue as my other one could open after an hour of play while this one even after a few hours doesn't open smoothly....

Tips?

Maybe the pivot was tightened to get across Canadian Customs without any issues.

The AXIS Flipper I tried at the local gun store flipped out super easy, every time.
Try loosening the pivot slightly (not till you get sideways wiggle though), and see if it works better. :)

The pivot is butter smooth when the Axis lock is pushed down; so that can't be the issue. :(
I think it may have to do with the Axis lock...

You have two, so are somewhat familiar with how the 300 should feel normally?

I doubt the issue has to do with the Axis which only affects the first maybe 10 degrees till the actual flipper disappears into the handle; the Axis then goes back the opposite direction while the blade is free to move forward open or back in.

I'm guessing it probably debris in between one of the parts, usually around the pivot. Find some note card and use the edge to clean in between, or just take it apart. The 300 has a fairly simple design with washers, so it is pretty easy to disassemble and put together evenly.

Thing flips like butter when I took it apart (to dye black). I really like the 300; one of my underrated favorites. Scales would cost more than the knife itself for me, but I think it might be worth it. Should have got the green & black one, that one is nice.

Thanks I'll try to take it apart :)
