Benchmade Axis Lock - Does your lock bar hit your washers?

While putting on some ti Wilkins grips on my mini Ritter, I noticed that on my 558, in the closed position the lock bar never reaches the space cut out in the liner for the axis lock closest to the pivot because it is stopped by the blade. It only goes about 90% before it hits the blade and and stops. Likewise, in the open position it stops at about 80% because it hits the washers....is this normal? I have a 556 and it does this as well. An odd design since you could probably get away with slightly smaller washers and have it lock up 100% in the open position. I am not concerned about the closed position as the pressure from the omega springs and weight of the bar are hardly enough to damage the s30v blade, however in the open position I would be worried about banging the lock against just the washers. For the knives I have, I doubt its an issue as the washers are on thicker side, plus its hitting the two washers equally, but if the washers were thinner I might be a bit more worried. Either way, its still an odd thing to look at.

Just wondering if this is normal for other Benchmades (only have the 558 and 556 at my disposal to check), and if its a common occurrence for the lock bar to hit up against your washers.

I have a 555 and a 551 and yes, both of them hit. It doesn't bother me at all in terms of function / reliability but it can make reassembly a PITA sometimes.

Yea, reassemble was a pain, which is why I prefer my sebbies... It doesn't bother me in function or reliability either, but its a real weird thing to see!

Neither my 555 or Contego hit the washers. However they don't go all the way up, of course. The axis lock isn't designed around that track, but around the path of the knife as it opens.
