BenchMade Bone Collectors

Just received my bone collector. In a word....Awsome! It just oozes cool. Straight out of the box it will shave...typical benchmade... The handle is very easy to hold on to. Lots of grip points. It looks rough but is actualy smooth and comfortable to use. It's a large knife. I did install an STR lowrider blue jean colored clip. It fits perfectly and sits easily beside my wallet and if you don't know i have it, you probably won't see it. Clip was a must have and compliments the knife in both form and function.
I tuned up the edge with advice from RedHawk and now the hair not only pops off my arm, it jumps just to get it over with. Seriously, it takes awhile to get the edge super scary sharp but once there it holds it. I have cut everything from steak to paper and it has yet to dull.
the tip has a great, if not scary shape and has gone through many phone books. This knife was made to penetrate as well as cut. It will cut paper in midair without the slightest fuzz. I cut through an apple on my desk and now i have a nice cut through the apple, towel, a piece of paper and my desk...
The inner frame is skeletonized to reduce weight. The axis lock works perfectly and makes the knife quick to draw.
with G-10 scales and an impressive D-2 blade as well as super tough construction, this knife is now my everyday carry.
all in all i consider this an investment for the very long haul........Great Knife

Thanks for the feedback DragonsBear. I am still waiting for mine and your post will keep me motivated in that struggle.

I like the modified sheepsfoot Griptilians, but not real crazy about the cheap feeling plastic grip. The BC's really suited me perfectly, G10 grip, and D2 steel....whats not to love:)

I just can't love the hole, or Michael Waddell... I'll still prob wind up with one...

Thanks for the credit Dragonsbear but you are gifted with natural skills. The Bone Collector is an awesome tool. It is on my must have list.

Well, I have heard a lot of good words about the Bone Collector BenchMade series. I had already decided it was a keeper but I did want to hear what some other folks had to say. Thank you all and if anyone else has anything to add please do so. I am glad I bought the little rascal even though I needed another pocket knife like I needed another hole in my head, but hey, it is not about what you need but what you want. Remember, if you ever need cheering up, go buy you another nice knife.

I can add this much:

I too agree that D2 steel is terrific. I am pleased at just how great the steel holds an edge. I don't think it gets the credit it deserves.

The small BC handle fits me better than any other knife I have ever used. It is a wonder of shape and grip; your hand just hugs the thing.

I was not that crazy about the blade however. Don't get me wrong: the D2 is scary sharp, and features excellent edge retention. But the hole is a little small, I don't care for the blade shape, and I can't stand the Bone Collector image.

So...I had the blade switched with the one off of a Mini Presidio. Voila! I know have the closest I have ever come to my perfect knife.
