Benchmade Bugout?

I have had a couple Bugouts and they are great knives; good design for EDC and general use, lots of choices and endlessly customizable. I would love to get my hands on one with carbon scales and s90v someday.

However, the original design brief (as I understand it) was for a utility-type folder with low weight for camping/hiking/whatever. Being a bit of a camping/hiking/whatever guy, I gotta say, in my experience and for those purposes, the Spyderco Pacific Salt is the better option for me. Very similar weight, longer blade and no worries about rust or omega springs to die on you in the field. LC200N is not S30V, granted, but I tend to prefer it for outdoor stuff regardless.

Anyway, there's lots of nice things about the Bugout and folks should buy whatever they like. But for me, the Pacific Salt is the winner for an ultralight utility/outdoor knife. Just one guy's opinion...

The CF-Elite Bugout has been a frequent carry for me, and it's a pretty great all-around EDC. I also appreciate it's size - it's not too small to be useful. As others have said, it's so lightweight that when I'm wearing workout/exercise clothing, it's the folder I reach for because even in a lightweight pair of shorts, I forget it's there unless I need it.
