Does anyone have field experience with a Benchmade Bushmaster? I recently purchased one from a fellow forum member and took it on a short hike yesterday. I attached it to the front strap of my Maxpedition Versipack where it rode very comfortably. During the hike it was used to clear brush and limbs away from a trail. Overall I was very impressed with how well it performed on small branches and limbs up to ¾”. Although not as heavy as a good kukri or as long as a good machete it handled the task better than I expected. I didn’t use it for any heavy chopping but plan to give it a workout soon. The edge retention was good with the only negative being the small handle. I tried wrapping it with paracord but that made it too large. I plan to try again with either gutted paracord or a smaller diameter cord. I asked if others have any experience with one of these because I have heard little about it. I know the model has been discontinued for some time which may be why there is little mentioned about them.

I have owned two of them as well as the old Timba and Fer de Lance, mine were all Pacific Cutlery, prior to Benchmade. All really great knives too.

glad your likin it!
I used one for clearing Doug fir brush way back when and it did it fine (same job that killed an Ontario machete back before I started convexing them)
