Benchmade Crooked River or Cold Steel Broken Skull

Between the two which do you think has the best value for the size, weight, materials, cost, blade shape, longevity and looks. And which would you buy just for kicks.
Thanks.

I wouldn't touch a silly wrestler-endorsed knife on a bet, so that kinda answers both questions.

And that Crooked River is one of the nicest looking modern folders I have seen in a very long time.

My immediate reaction to the title of this thread was "those two knives are completely different" but then I realized they are both 4" clip point blades with good steels.

I like my Crooked River and sold my Broken Skulls. I never thought to compare the two, honestly, but I would say the Broken Skull represents the best value by far, but the Crooked River is far away the superior knife in terms of look and feel. Get the Broken Skull if value is your biggest concern, but pride of ownership and eye candy factor leads me to the CR.

I was against the bs due to the wrestler deal and billboard logo....but it is a very good knife well designed and made with a decent steel that is well done heat treat wise. I wouldn't compare it to that Benchmade. Different classes and price points, but the bs is a very good knife and to disregard it due to the wrestler deal and billboarding is plain old silly. If you disregarded it due to the horrible designed pocket clip, well that would be fair game and reasonable.;)

This. And I personally wouldn't buy ANYTHING Cold Steel.

I just got a crooked river, its a real nice knife, much better than a glorified g10 lone star hunter with better steel. true the crooked river is twice the price, but its much nicer in so many ways,im not too crazy about linerless g10 knives, not that they aren't strong, just seems like its cutting corners...

Got my bs for 45 bucks. The 80 buck price point most are selling at is way too high. At 45 buck its a good deal wrestler or not.

No comparison. Apples and oranges.

The broken skull is a bare bones knife that is made to be affordable. Probably great value. And great Steel.

The crooked river is a smooth sexy piece of darn near art that costs about 3x the price.

In terms of value, the Cold Steel has better steel, and is significantly stronger, while being much lighter, with a thinner footprint at a fraction of the price...with a much tighter lockup

The Crooked river is better in terms of filling the art knife, pocket jewelry niche however.

And like a diesel engine will turn much more miles than gasoline, a Triad will take much longer to wear out than an Axis

Cold Steel all day every day don't care who endorses it. Its like Guns&Roses, Axel Rose is a total jerk (or use to be) but who cares his music is awesome. Cold Steel knives ...they just rock!

Whoa there. Wanna dial the douchery back a bit? A guy likes some things and you insult him for it?

Love the Broken Skull, not because it's made by cold steel, or endorsed by Stone Cold, it's because it's a great knife at a great price even at $80.
The design makes an EDC powerhouse.
The crooked River is a very beautiful knife.

Finally a big, classically designed knife with modern materials.

Unfortunately it not a knife I will purchase.

I already have the broken skull, a buck 110 and piles of fixed blades.

That's too bad man, it's a killer blade for a great price

It dwarfs the buck 110. It only weighs 3.1 oz too!

Powered steel, cts-xhp with a DLC coating? For how much? With a full height flat grind. Hell Yea.

The ergonomics are great too.
No sharp akward finger grooves feels great. Good traction on the g10 too.

I would and am currently about to press the button to buy the Crooked River. Haven't bought a Benchmade in a while but used to have one in the pocket back in the day. The recent threads on this one have really piqued my interest and i have started thinking maybe there is room for a modern blade along side my traditionals, occasionally anyway. Wouldn't buy the Cold Steel just because i don't like the looks of it & don't like a coated blade. Now if i can just stop staring at this Stryker II Odin Heim Damasteel long enough to push go on the Crooked River. So many knives...

The Crooked River is a nice looking knife but since I haven't bought a BM since MAP went into effect, I doubt I'll ever hold one.
Now at some point I can see me getting a BS, even with the stupid logo, I'd have no problem carrying that.
Steve Austin was after my time in wrestling, if it was endorsed by George "The Animal" Steele or Bruno Samartino I would have the whole set.
