Hi Hal.
I see you like to use colorful expressions. There is a subforum on this fine website where you can just let yourself go and I would like to cordially invite you there. You can say whatever comes to mind about anything you'd like to talk about and the folks over there are very receptive to new and fresh ideas especially about how knives are designed, manufactured, who makes the best knife, and what type of person carries what type of knife. In fact it is a common belief that the type of man you are is reflected in the type of things you keep in your pocket.
So when you get tired of answering and arguing with people who just don't appreciate the type of Brilliance that you exude come on over to Whine and Cheese. We'll leave the light on for you.

That's too bad man, it's a killer blade for a great price.

Fortunately, there are plenty of non-professional-wrestler-endorsed killer blades for a great price, so I'll live.

And I hate the ergos of handles that "plunge/taper" off at the end like that. Look at the timeless Buck. See how it doesn't do that, and the "pro wrestler" knife does? Its as if the Buck family knew how to design a knife.

Though I suppose they don't know how to put you in a sleeper hold or hit you with a folding chair. So I guess that's a knife design trade off. :)

Hahaha no worries bro if ya don't like it ya don't like it.
I can respect your preferences :)

But, I disagree.

Looking past the cheesy wrestling endorsment,
And the cold steel marketing,
This is an great knife,

And a great knife is a great knife

The ergos are bomber

With my Large size hands I can get a tight comfortable grip even with prolonged use.

That 4in blade is huge

Middle

Choked up

On the rear

Just plain comfortable.

Not that I'm much of a Cold Steel fan, but I don't get the aversion to something because it's endorsed by a wrestler? Would you want the knife any more/less if it had Bear, Cody, Les, Jim Shockey, Lee and Tiffany or any of those other hunter/survivalist personalities names on it?

I don't care for billboards on any of my gear, but the fact that it's a wrestler seems silly and immaterial to me.

I think it's not just the wrestler but the "Broken Skull". Printed on the blade as well. But it should be easy to understand someone can make a great blade even if you don't like them...but it's not always easy to be objective, I will admit.

Its as if the Buck family knew how to design a knife.

And Andrew Demko doesn't? Think of a number less than 0. That is how much of the physical design of the Broken Skull that came from Steve Austin. He just saw an updated prototype of the Lone Star Hunter, and fell in love with it. Cold Steel offered to add his Ranch's name, and his to the blade.

But as far as knowing how to design a knife goes. Name another knife designer on the planet that has a knife out with that much blade, that strong a lock, and in a 3 oz package.

No, because they they know about as much about knife design as a pro wrestler.

Dozier.

Respect right back attchya.

But I cant and wont get past the cheese, and I don't like the ergos. But, of course, ergos are hard to quantify.

I bought my girlfriend a pink one last week from BLADE HQ for $45. I only wish that I'd bought a blue one for myself.

She digs it, and it is actually a good knife. Lightweight, comfortable, long reach, Triad Lock.

If they go on sale again, I will buy another one for me.

Just out of curiosity... Can someone confirm the broken skull knife has the Triad lock? I was reading the cold steel product page and the description at a few retailers and no mention is made... At this price point is it possible it's just a back lock?

It's a Triad

I guess that's good. Strange that CS plasters "TRIAD LOCK" on promo material for all their other models but no mention is made here...

Uhm, yes. But I will leave that discussion for a thread on that topic.
Well, it would be a lot less headache for a thread like that not to come up. Then eventually posters will start hitting up Cold Steel and Demko on their YouTube channel, to test the Triad against some Doziers. Then when the rubber hits the road, we will see countless posts of how terrible it is that Cold Steel disrespected Dozier in conducting the tests.

But it would be cool to see production Doziers (Kabar ets) against comparable Cold Steels, and his Customs with the Tab Lock against some Demko customs. Well maybe not so cool. I know if I throw a ball in the air, that it will come down, and likewise, I know exactly how those tests will end up.
