Benchmade Crooked River

It's a beautiful knife, but larger and heavier than I like for EDC. I wonder if Benchmade has anything in the works to make a smaller version like they did with the 765 downsize of the 761? This knife with a 3.25 to 3.5" blade would have "BUY NOW" all over it!

Hey! Anyone notice how much it looks like the Kershaw Strobe?
sorry...couldn't stop myself :p

It's not an EDC for me. But on the weekends it finds itself in my pocket a lot. If they would make a smaller version I would be all over that too (and I may buy the wood version anyways).

I think it looks like a beefy axis lock version of a Buck 110 :)

Yeah I would love to see them do a "Ranger" to the Crooked River's "Hunter", and would definitely buy one (or two).

Benchmade Crooked River
Zero Tolerance 0095
Benchmade 940-1

I absolutely love mine! It is very smooth. Blade drops free. Zero blade play. It is in my top 3 favorite Benchmades of all time (along with the 940, which is a huge compliment from me).

Funny it's doesnt seem so big compared to 940-1.
I'm waiting for the wood version to be available here.

I was just at benched yesterday and they are sending them out now. So they should be around in the next month! And no it's not a whole lot longer. Defiantly thicker and heavier but that's a given

I got mine in two days ago, and haven't taken pictures yet, but it is a wonderful wonderful thing. Mine came smooth, solid, and centered. My only gripe is that the wood scales are a bit lackluster in their appearance... Which makes me think some custom scales are in order. Dyed burl? Carbon fiber? CTEK? They would all look good against that bolster!

Yes, yes they would all look amazing. I feel like there are a few more Crooked Rivers in my future :D

I got mine with the wood handles last Friday and absolutely love it! As the OP said it feels lighter than it is. thanks Benchmade for a beautifully made knife!

Unless you participate in a ironman or run a marathon with this in your pocket it's not going anywhere.

I guess that shows that shaking it softly doesn't unseat the blade, but mine, like most all axis lock benchmades, you can deploy with a shake. Not any worse than you would expect if you are used to axis locks, though.

Not sure how that is softly as I am shaking quite hard. If I really really throw my wrist and snap it yes it can come out.

I just shook mine with enough inertia to throw a baseball a good 20 feet. Nothing!

That's how it is for me, too, but the way I wrote it came out weird. What I was meaning to communicate was that all axis lock knives with the exception of the assisted openers can be shaken open if you flick it hard enough. Something I've never really liked, but have come to accept.

Do you have anymore pictures of the crooked river compared with the 940-1? Thanks!

I made a video. It's not great, but it shows off the knife, and then I also talk about the Launch 6 because why not kill two birds with one stone.

I kinda ramble; it's been a long day.

Warning: SWEARZ

Your video made me want a Crooked River with wood scales even more. Then I remembered I already have one. So now I want another.

I guess I don't really "get" this knife. The combinations of materials and the way they are fit together, the blade finish. It just doesn't look like a finished product - especially the wood version.

I do understand the novelty of its fresh looks, though. Just not for me.
