Is it a pun/joke against the spyderco rubicon?
Rubicon is the name of a river, and the rubicon has a red circle very similar to the orange? circle of the crooked river.
Also the rubicon got mixed reviews...

I highly doubt it was intentional. Google "Crooked River" and it is the proper name of a real river in the US. The Rubicon is rarely referred to as the actual river and is generally used as a metaphor for a point beyond which there is no return. Additionally, the Rubicon knife and the Crooked River knife have almost nothing in common except for the blade steel, usage of orange (which makes sense for a "Hunt Series" knife) and that the pivot has notable features.

I would honestly instead propose that you deserve some credit for making that connection between the two, even if (or especially because) it was unintentional on Benchmade's part.

Crooked River goes through the town I live in, Prinville Oregon. Very famous for fly fishing, and the supplier of Earth 2 0 bottled water.

So now that that's settled, let's talk about how awesome this knife looks. And post pics :)

It kinda looks like the Bedlam's classier cousin :P

I'm really diggin it.
Would love to see some pics of it next to some other well known 4-inchers, like the Recon or Millie, maybe even a 0560?

I just got mine in this week and I can say its my new favorite carry. I got the gray G10 handle scales but kinda wish I had gotten the wood, that is one nice looking knife.

I must be in the minority, but I am not feeling it with this knife. I have not handled it yet, but I am just not a fan of the wood handle.

The wood scales on the Crooked River combined with the gray bolsters, remind me of the wooden decks and gray bulkheads of WWII battleships. The orange accents? Well, a little orange helps prevent scurvy.

I'd say it looks like the Bedlam's cousin too, such a cool design and the price is decent.

I really like the looks of the Crooked River. I might have to get one just to keep my 80s Buck 110 company.

That is a nice looking knife! Can't wait to get mine in the ironwood next week

The Ironwood version arrived Sat. I must say it is larger than I thought even when I knew the dimensions. It is a Massive 940 if you will, in a way!. It is a fine knife and operates and constructed exactly like the 940 with the axis lock. I love the knife but Wow it is big for the pocket! It has been a long time since I carried ~4" blade so that may be it along with the frame size. The 940 has a nice long blade length within a smaller frame. The Crooked River has a nice blade length/style in a much bigger frame....

No need to review, its a Benchmade and for the money a Awesome value considering the blade steel, construction, and quality IMO. I just need larger pockets (-:
