Benchmade Customer Service, Impressions?

I don't know if this qualifies as "customer service," but about 4-5 years ago, I sent an email to corporate about some odd grammar in a few hard-to-read passages on their website. I am an attorney, and I write for a living, so I offered some suggestions on how to clean up the language. Not only did they use my corrections verbatim, but also they gave me a one-time 25% discount on any in-stock product. That was really cool! I can't recall what I bought, but I ordered something right away. That was very nice of them.
That is definitely a nice gesture

The axis lock was sticking and failing to lockup, the blade kept chipping. And no amount of pivot tension could remove the blades side to side play without rendering it undeployable. The last two were minor. It was mostly the axis lock misbehaving that made me send it in.

You sir have backed out of so many deals on the exchange and low balled far too many good members. No one here should listen to a damn thing you say.

My experience with them was counter to most all of these replies, and strange. I contacted them to purchase orange scales for my two Grips, I was told that I couldn't buy new scales, but if my original scales were defective they would replace them but only in the original black color. I repeated that I was willing to pay for the replacements, and was again refused. A strange business mindset ? and a lost customer.

It might just not be in any companies best interest to sell parts. If you call Emerson, KAI, Spyderco, Protech, LionSteel, etc and ask them to sell you sets of scales, my guess would a unified and resounding "No". It is not unheard of IMO, the want to see the knife and do whatever kind of tune up they do. Te Black only replacement scale does seem to be kind of odd, but hey, new is new.

In your situation, Benchmade offering replacements was in line with what their Warranty/Repair documentation is all about. Some companies won't even do that without having to move Heaven and Earth, if at all. Most people see more enjoyment from the Grip series when they make transition to Wilkins scales or from other makers.

The only way you can get a different color of scales from BM is, if you order a Grip from the Custom program, and then send the knife back to them..
There is a charge, and you will not get your original scales returned with the knife though.

We do not need multiple copies of the same thread. Especially when the OP is simply trolling to boost youtube channel views.
