Benchmade cuts up guns now?

For all we know they’re murder weapons, more likely just used in conjunction with a crime, though.
For all we know, they were seized for having “high capacity” mags or a forward pistol grip.

It’s gonna be hard for BM to win me back and I’ve been a hugely loyal customer to BM (almost exclusively). I’m not as big a collector as some, but I won’t continue to give thousands of dollars to gun destroyers.

Unless I’m mistaken, Oregon doesn’t have any laws of that nature. Though, I’m from the other side of the country so I honestly have no clue. Some guns are destined to be destroyed. It’s going to happen no matter who’s manning the grinder. I personally have no quarrel with Benchmade helping out the local authorities.

The Police Dept has to destroy the weapons. They cannot stay in the evidence room forever. My local PD has them melted down. What’s the difference? Benchmade was aiding their local law enforcement.
What's the difference? You mean: “What difference, at this point, does it make?”...
Then nobody could possibly explain it to you, you would not understand about principal.

Benchmade had no reason to get involved here other than to virtue signal. Plenty of other angle grinders and band saws in Oregon. Nice job shooting yourself in the foot benchmade.

Quoted for posterity. I'm done buying Benchmade and it's a damn shame as they were the ones who kicked this hobby off for me.

The cops needed to destroy some firearms. A local company volunteered to help them out. I guess they should have insisted that they try to re-home them first (like puppies)?
There’s more reason to “rehome a firearm” than a puppy. A firearm is an inanimate piece of wood and steel vs something that can act on its own.

not writing them off just yet; give em' an opportunity to acknowledge a mistake. lets see where they're at tomorrow after they get a clue the shtstorm they just unleashed...

No, literally, without adding anything: What is the difference? If the firearms are destined for destruction due to legal process being completed, does it matter who cuts them up?
If your only answer is "you wouldn't understand" then you don't have much of an argument.

So helping your local PD is Virtue Signalling? Does that go for the shops that service cruisers in smaller depts? The supply stores that make sure officers can try out individually purchased gear? The car-washes and detailers, dry cleaners?

There are no conceivably acceptable conditions under which this occurred.

Benchmade assisting any LEO to destroy firearms is akin to citizens turning in other citizens to prevent their own incarceration. It is pure unadulterated hypocrisy and fear.

I own about a dozen benchmades, all high end. I also had an order for five lower tier griptillians that I placed today, gifts for family members. I cancelled the order and am reluctant to purchasing anything else. My benchmades will go up for sale depending on the public response from BM. It may be time to support another brand.

I would like to hear from Benchmade how they were involved and why.

I have a dozen Benchmade knives, and this turns my stomach.
