Blade folks,
I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I have made a few knives and have an overwhelming weakness for making, buying, and fiddling with knives. I am very disappointed in Benchmade. I paid for a 426 in full in October and it still hasn’t been delivered. I am in Iraq so this knife isn’t exactly a luxury item for me. I chose the 426 over custom ordering a Tai Goo knife because I felt the Benchmade would be quicker and have a comparable edge for 90% of task (I know that these knives are in no way comparable, Tai wins in every category but availability). Quantico Tactical and Benchmade both continue to blow me off with excuses every time I call or email for a status. Does anyone know any Grown ups that work at Benchmade who I can contact to address my grievance? In one week I am requesting a refund from Quantico tactical and probably giving up on having a decent knife for this rotation. By the time I order a custom knife I will probably be in the last 120 days of my tour and to late to receive it safely. Thanks for your time.

The 425 and 426 have been discontinued by Benchmade. I will almost assure you they no longer have any stock, and it is listed as such on their web page. So getting one from Benchmade at this point might be darn near impossible.

Sounds like you have a dealer issue, however, more than a Benchmade issue. And if they are out of stock, Benchmade is out of stock also. I would suggest asking your dealer to change the order (in your situation a Benchmade 520 sounds just dandy, and ought to be in stock in most of the world!) If they don't comply, cancel and order it from someone else.

There are a few dealers who still have 426, so look around. I know shipping could be an issue. If you really want one, PM me and I will point you to a few places that might help.

Best of luck, I know these issues stink when they happen...

Why buy it directly from Benchmade (not to mention you are paying full MSRP)?
E.g. here (if you can live with coating, uncoated version is out of stock): http://newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=4929
have 4 in stock. They usually send it out the same or next day you order (I believe you have some APO to have it delivered to).

Since you reference Quantico Arms, is it safe to say you ordered from http://www.quanticoarms.com ?

In which case, it's not a problem with Benchmade blowing you off but instead the warehouse you ordered from. You can't fault the manufacturer if you didn't buy directly from them - and Benchmade wouldn't get involved with a dispute you have with a vendor.

Your beef should be with Quantico Arms. As huugh mentioned, you can order the same knife from elsewhere or directly from Benchmade (although at MSRP). However, you can't fault a manufacturer for a distributor's faults.

Cancel your order and place it with New Graham. You should have it in about 1 week,2 days if you were inside the US.

You are right that I have a beef with the guys at Quantico tactical, I walked into the store and ordered it. I wanted it shipped immediately but they assured me I would get it in country, probably even at my unit when I got there. Nope. Days and weeks pass, I get food poisoning but I don’t get my knife. I call Quantico and say “where is my knife”, it was backordered. Having worked in the outdoors industry for fifteen years I knew how to find the manufacturer. I wrote them and they assured me that the knife would be built in sufficient numbers to cover all of the backorders. Now I am still waiting for my knife and I am more than a little put off by the BS answers from the manufacturer and retailer. They are still using the BS excuses that I learned in a bike shop in 1986. Thanks for the leads on the knives. If the knuckles don’t come up with the knife I will use my refund to buy from one of the recommended sites. Thanks for the help

Hi Bellizio,

Quantico Arms Failure -- not Benchmade.

If what I am reading is correct, you placed and paid for this knife from Quantico back an number of months (!??). Quantico thought this would be an easy order, but found out it was not. But, you paid and so they simply place the order and wait.

Benchmade is taking their time to make a discontinued knife for backorder status only. Not their priority either. (Just the facts.)

At this point, I would not take no for an answer and politely obligate Quantico to refund your previous payment. They missed the point of your purchase and hence the sale. This is not even disbutable in any reasonable customer care aspect.

Call NG and place your order. That'll learn 'em!

Please keep us posted. You are doing service in Iraq? This 'customer service' is reprehensible.
