Benchmade flagship

I wanted to read from benchmade users what they think is the flagship knife of benchmade or the one that best represents everything that is benchmade.

I would have to go with oicw and say the AFCK series for a liner lock and the 710 in axis lock. But just my 2 cents. I personally carry the 750 pinnacle but I perfer titanium handles and frame lock.

710...That is the knife I think of when I think of Benchmade...However, my 805 is my favorite Benchmade.:).

I think it's clearly the BM42. Bali-song = Benchmade to me.

But next to it, the 710 and or any of the griptilians. I think the 710 leads in image and the griptillian leads for what most people have.

That would be the BM49-SPL. The recent BM46-DM would be a good choice too.

Certainly, the two knives that, more than any other, propelled BM to its current success were the AFCK and 970; but that doesn't necessarily make them the "Flagship."

I'm a relative latecomer to Benchmade, so the balis don't come immediately to mind... but the 710 McHenry & Williams is THE knife that I think of when I see the name "Benchmade".

The 94x series are great examples of what Benchmade can achieve.
From design to materials to fit and finish they got it right.

710 or 42.

Shaky grounds with the 710 these days though. Not sure what the hell is going to happen to it.... :(

710, without a shadow of a doubt. Doesn't matter if it's discontinued, it will always be the Benchmade. :D

Peace.

The Bali-Songs are the herritage of the company. In fact, it's a Bali-Song(tm) only if it was made by Benchmade (or its precursors Pacific Cutlery or Bali-Song Cutlery). Any other butterfly knife is a balisong.

Ever wonder where the Benchmade Butterfly logo comes from? In fact, look closely at the butterfly logo on a Benchmade knife that's more than a few years old and you'll see that it doesn't say "Benchmade," but "Bali-Song."

42, Ti follow-up of the 45. I'd put the grip over the 710, but I own neither and have an 806.

BM's butterfly knives are historically the knives most closely assiociated with them, but things have changed. Still, their line of balisongs deserve a mention, with the BM42 being the current standard. It is where the company came from, but balisongs have limited appeal and do not carry the company.

The AFCK propelled them to their current success and is one of their classic models. But it is no longer in production. It is one of their most known models, but it cannot be a flagship since it isn't sailing.

The 710 is their current flagship, at least in the bread and butter sense.

Normally a "flagship model" is the highest-end, most expensive, most advanced. A show-off for the brand. The 710 doesn't quite qualify. I'm not sure what their highest-end model is. But when I think of BM, I think of balisongs, the AFCK, and the 710. In that order chronologically, not in terms of importance.

My favorite BM models are the 630 Skirmish and 610 RUKUS.

The Griptilian deserves a mention. It isn't their high-end knife, but it has mass appeal. It is their Ford Focus or Mustang. While Ford's true flagship is the Ford GT.

Not sure about the flagship, but I think their military conracts are getting some attention.

That would be their autos, Stryker, and Grip.

Well, because it's the only BM I have, I want to say Griptilian, but I tend to agree that the 710 is probably the best choice.
