Blade length is closer to 3" but still a small knife. I would love either of these as a gift.

Oh yeah! I forgot about the 440. It's a really nice little guy, definitely great for a gift. I had one, and gave it to a buddy for a wedding present.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I went with the Kershaw Chive because of the smaller size, but if it's too small for him, I now have some great backup options to suggest. I really appreciate all the input. Thanks!
