Benchmade Forum Knife?

Thanks for the comp on your 530. On coatings; I've been using carbon steel most of my life. It turns color during use. There's never been a problem with that. Fact is un-coated M4 isn't a real problem - there's been so many negatives about the fragile nature of what we got on our BKC Forum knives, and similarly on the 810, that I sold both of these knives (keeping one of the Forum models for the collection) and as a rule will only buy uncoated satin blades unless there's no choice...which has happened before (in the case of the 710 and 800HS for example.)

Concerning losing the words on the blade from removing the coating; my experience shows the etching's pretty deep...it might be lighter but would take a lot of polishing to remove it all.

If Spyderco and others have offered their M4 blades uncoated, why couldn't Benchmade do the same?

m4 mini ritter with stonewash blade, thunderstorm handle scales and carbon fiber backspacer! Or with mini ritter dark canvas micarta scales, with Damascus blade and a carbon fiber backspacer, with black liners and axis lock and screws. I could go on all day. maybe instead of Damascus they could do a DLC coating on M4 blade steel with the above ^^

If they would stop bead blasting their M4 and stonewash or polish it then no coating would be fine. My Gayle Bradley has seen tons of use with no rust issues. I am getting tired of my "cleared" Contego rusting on the laser marks from just riding in my pocket. But the edge and bearing surface for the axis bar are just fine, take the hint.
