Stumbled on this Benchmade Griptilian 551-1702 under exclusive on knifesworks.com
They are about to start shipping them, but not even a photo.
Paper micarta - but no color specified, M390 steel.

Any info?

Thanks.

If you click on the picture on the photo there is photo now. It looks like the 551-1, but in an all black handle. I love it. I'm preordering!!

It's black paper micarta and satin M390. The scale texture follows a standard Grip pattern but the scales feel different than G10... warmer, like some of the micarta fixed blade handles I've had.

Construction is an open back with standoffs like a custom shop Grip. Mine came perfectly centered with evenly ground bevels and as sharp as any factory knife I've seen.

After 10 days or so with this Grip, I can report that my other folders are all on holiday. It's been this Grip and a small FB for my carry ever since it came and it doesn't look like any change is coming in the foreseeable future.

I'm hoping they come out with a Mini Grip version of this as they would swap out my G10 version in a second for micarta and M390.

Can you post some pictures please.
Thanks!

Interesting.
Does it look like micarta to you?
Yes, it is black paper micarta, not black canvas micarta. The paper version is much finer than the canvas. I have several knives with a black paper handle.
