Benchmade Griptilian

The Mini Ritter is the first Benchmade that I have purchased in almost a decade and I have been very impressed by it. Love the size, blade shape, lock and especially the edge profile. Another positive is the after market support that's available in case you want something a bit more personal.

Just received a full size Persidio 522 and Grip 550HG. I like big knives but am now leaning to smaller size for EDC. Have a mini Grip 556 blue coming in next week to try out. The full size Grip feels good in the hands, but a bit bulky in my pocket, hard to get change out with that sucked in there too, but awesome knife.

Absolutely love the mini grip... Just got this one... Pretty stoked on it (REI Crimson w/ S30V blade)

Probably only going to keep one of these... Can't really decide... Black mini grip D2 (Cabelas) or Crimson mini grip S30V (REI)...

I'm new to knives but from what I read seems like S30V is a premium over D2... Easier to sharpen... But seems like for all around utility the D2 would be better (edge retention)???

In my EDC experiences, D2 and S30V seem to be pretty comparable in regards to taking a great edge and keeping it. D2 technically isn't stainless, although there is some chromium in it. The blade coating should help though. I've found D2 a little easier to sharpen, although if you're using diamond stones, they're about the same.

The all time favorite versions would be the Ritter M2. Unfortunately I sold it and regret it all these years later, along with all my other M2 benchmades.

Minigrip D2 green from well known store. Like it but should have bought full size

Minigrip M390 Love it except for small grips. I have XXXL hands. It sure takes great edges!

Grip CPM M4. Perfect, if really up to the hardness it claims ( rc 62-64) A keeper and user. This one came with the best grinds/edges I've seen from Benchmade. The last ones I bought 805 in 390, 710, etc have shown that the talk about better edges wasn't just talk. They really din improve. This one was excellent.

Thanks for the feedback... Impressions on how each compares all a bit scattered. Some say S30V easier to sharpen, some say D2. Most say D2 holds an edge longer.

That's a nice review! I ordered a set of the vintage micarta for my BM710 just last week. This is the second set of grips I've ordered from Cuscasdi and Luke is very easy to work with.
