Benchmade Griptillian or Spyderco Paramilitary 2

I think you made a good call for your first higher end purchase. I'm sure the Para 2 won't let you down. But if in the event that it does, they sell like hotcakes around here.

Griptilian.

I own several Spyderco knives and have the utmost respect for their company and Sal's contributions to the industry. Yet, the Griptilian is better in a number of ways:

(1) The Griptilian is more comfortable in the hand due to its rounded, relatively thick handle. This makes an enormous difference during extended cutting sessions.

(2) The Griptilian's axis lock is easier to manipulate, especially for left-handed knife users. The PM2's compression lock is incredibly strong and reliable, but most tests and opinions I have reviewed suggest it lacks the strength of the axis lock.

(3) The Griptilian is more affordable. This matters because both the PM2 and Griptilian are marketed and sold as highly functional, performance-based knives. They are not high-end midtechs or customs.

(4) The HG Griptilian is a better slicer and has a better blade shape. The PM'2 vulnerable tip is prone to breakage and its FFG grind does not slice as well as the HG Griptilian's hollow grind. The HG Griptilian's sheepfoot blade is a more functional blade shape.

(5) Benchmade offers a broader scope of warranty and faster customer service turn around. Although Spyderco is an outstanding company that stands behind its products, Benchmade has a larger warranty department, broader scope of warranty [blade replacements], and faster turn-around.

Paramilitary 2
Both are fine knives to be honest but the PM2 has the better blade profile for most edc tasks while the Griptillian has the slightly stronger blade profile/lock. (PM2's tip is extremely fragile, the griptillian fairs way better).
