Looks like a walter Brend folder by Benchmade.
Been wrong before, though.

Believe me....being this old and having to live with all this experience is not the picnic I thought it was going to be.

That my friend, is a Benchmade Kodiak.

Edit: If I'm not mistaken the blade is G-2 stainless.

So........which of your friends were you talking to ?
And, any idea who designed the knife ?

.

About the Kodiak, Benchmade introduced the knife at about the same time as the Tsunami. Both Kodiak and Tsunami were in-house designs.

KnifeDude,

I wish I still had the Kodiak, traded it for the then new AFCK. Agree, it was an outstanding knife. It was also the second Benchmade I bought, after the good ol' Leopard.

Here is a little more info provided to me by Les De Asis.

The model is the Kodiak Skinner model. It was offered in G2 Stainless Steel.

The design of the knife was influenced by Steve Dick of Tactical Knives, and his suggestion was that Benchmade use a
classic skinner shape in a folder.

There were variations in its name. I have one that is labeled "Kodiak Bowie". I' ve seen others labeled "Kodiak Skinner". Last of the great broad bladed bowie designs in a production folder.

Spyderco: are you still listening??

BTW, the other of this "trio" is the Brend Combat Talon. Its design has since been revived by Boker.
