Benchmade Liner locks

This. My bad experience with my old Deja is making me apprehensive about purchasing an 890 Torrent (though I want one badly enough that I might just break down and pick one up).
I would not be surprised if the weak detent is one of the reasons behind discontinuation of the 740 & 745, something that should have been caught in QC pretty early on!
However, I am glad I got one before they were dropped and the price doubled - excellent fit&finish otherwise, great design and ergonomy, excellent materials... I'd take my 745 over a PM2 any day.
As to the detent, I'd recommend Bluntruth4u's remedy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOjwG98ftpk - Pivot is still butter-smooth and easy, no blade-play, and now the lock-up and detent are solid as they should have been out of the factory.

... We sometimes do stupid things with our knives- one day I was tossing one of mine up in the air a foot or so and catching it...
Nothing was injured but it points out that we should always treat our knives with respect and not randomly play with them.
 Um... yeah, glad you realize that.

I want one too! It has the size and blade shape that I want, and contoured G10 too. (Either that or a 913 Stryker.)

I have the torrent and its my main carry knife right now. I'm amazed at how relatively inexpensive this knife is for the quality. It's a really excellent folder.
