I carry two right now (880 & 910), and they get used for absolutely everything....cutting boxes, normal utility, carving my desk when I'm bored watching a server load, to the rare occasions when its needed for self-defense.
I carry a CQC7,705,940. Not all at the same time, I rotate them. I work on a farm so I use my BM to cut a lot of different things, feed bags, rope, and small brush(when I am helping build fences). I also use them just for the small everyday things. I haven't had a poblem with a BM yet. I really like them.
I like the 940. I like the blade shape and the fact that it is so light in my pocket. It may be light but it has a good size blade. I am left handed so it is nice that it is ambidextrous. I also have an Emerson skull clip on it.
I use a 710HS and a Nimravus (alternately) as my beater knives at work, and carry a blue 940 often-not at work. Carried an AFCK as daily carry for almost three years. It replaced the mini I carried for a year or two before that.
Can't say that there is a #1 use for any of them. Whatever comes my way that needs cutting, I guess
Number one use? My nr 1 use for my Stryker, measured in time at least, is playing with it.
Second is probably trimming nails and suck or maybe opening envelopes.
When I REALLY need it is a lot less often, but its really nice to have it on your hip when you need to slice some bread, peel an apple, cut a hose or strip a cable.
The BM705S has been my companion since May '99 when it came out. Since then, it's inherited bronze washers and a custom spacer.
I use it everyday, usually for cutting packing tape on stuff I'm shipping out or receiving. I also use it to cut 550 cord to specified lengths for varied uses.
Bm 710 50/50 is my work knife. It sees duty in the firehouse cutting cardboard, rags and some kitchen use.
Fire scenes it cuts plastic and tar paper to cover vent holes, cuts burned carpet for removel from the house.Mattress fires it cuts open the mattresses to get at the smoldering fire inside.
With three people shot within the last 2 days within 1/2 mile from the firehouse and a working drughouse right across the street it provides some comfort at all other times.
Btw the drughouse is a "double"with drug dealers on one side and a hooker on the other, kind of one stop shopping
(if only they'd add a knife shop upstairs)
