Ok, I get it. Dealers agree to a minimum advertised price. No big deal. They can still sell for negotiated prices. But how does Midway get away with selling a 757 for 198.00 (just for adding the item to the cart) when everybody else has it for $255????

Can somebody 'splain this to me?

You can sell the knives for whatever price you want as a dealer, so long as you're willing to risk Benchmade no longer selling knives to you. Derrick from KSF was on a podcast recently and said that they have a zero tolerance policy, if they catch you skirting the MAP they will stop allowing you to buy knives from them.

I believe they're fulfilling the letter of the agreement: Minimum ADVERTISED price. As soon as you make the "commitment" to put it in your cart, you get the "negotiated" price.

It's against the law for suppliers to dictate to retailers how much they can SELL the product but they can have policies that dictate retailers' advertised prices.

This is a common practice. I see it for golf products.

If you're a consumer, why would you be complaining about a retailer who's willing to sell you a product for less than what others are charging???

It pays to become friends with the right people. I haven't payed anywhere close to MAP pricing on my Benchmades.
