Hi there,

As replied in "EDC XIII", just got Benchmade Mini Freek 565-1 today, love this model.
But I found that the axis cannot seamlessly lock after unfolding, if I move the blade up and down, I can feel small moves.
This is not happened in any of my other folding knives (not include Opinel ones).

Just wanted to ask, is it normal? do you have same situation?

Thanks.

I have seen that on some axis locks. Can you push the lock forward towards the blade and get solid lockup? If so then either the spring tension is too light, or the spring or the lock mechanism gets stuck on a rough spot somewhere.

I carry the full sized freek regularly, lockup on that one is bank vault solid. Give Benchmade a call, they will fix it up quick for you!

you find the problem! Yes, once I push the lock forward towards, the blade gets solid lockup. Thanks for letting me know I am not alone.
Just don't know whether this a quick way to fix it?

And do you think that's a common issue and the knife needs to be replaced? (about 50km driving back & forth to the dealer)

Thanks, here's an international buyer, replace (drive 50km) or leave it as-is (though I don't want to) might be a better choice than via international parcel.
Just don't know if this flaw affects in-field outdoor usage. Though it seems tiny by using hand, but if it is in real work such as cutting small woods and etc...

BTW, the crooked river (i get yesterday together with mini freek) lockups solid as well ;)

Oh, yeah I didn’t realize you weren’t in the US. Might be able to take it apart and do some polishing then if you like to tinker. Might be the safer route.

Thank you and will consider, the dealer said he would like to deliver some optional to me and let me choose, if we can match the time and meet, will be a better way. No driving, no taking apart (as I'm not good at craft works) 😂
