Benchmade mini griptillian sharpness?

I agree but I wouldn't wanna wait 2 months to get it back and pay 10 bucks

Lifesharp turn around time is usually 2 weeks or less and $5. However if you contact warranty service and explain its unused and came out of the box like that I doubt they'll charge you and probabily expedite it.

Buy a good sharpening system: it's a nice thing to have anyway!
Or learn to sharpen free-hand: it's a nice skill to have under your belt!

I have two mini grips and three full sized ones. All but one of the full sized was pretty sharp out of the box. The last one that wasn`t sharp enough to my liking wasn`t what I would call dull, it just wasn`t at the point were I think it shoud be. So what did I do? I sharpened it of course ;-)

I'm holding mine as I read this, and it's pretty sharp.

Bought 3, all came incredibly sharp..

I was honestly expecting to have to sharpen all three of them, as I've read in some places that Benchmade's factory edge is sometimes lacking... But nope. all mine turned out fine!

Out of box did you get a dull one? Mine came super dull with hardly any visible edge like a dollar store knife after 2 hours on the shark maker it's useable but not paper cutting hair splitting

If it's taking you 2 hours to sharpen 154CM steel, you are doing something gravely incorrect. It touches up with 15-25 passes (both sides). Also, are you watching the video on how to use the Sharpmaker? Sounds to me like you are attempting to reprofile the edge and might be sharpening the shoulders of the bevel instead of the cutting edge itself.

Just ordered some diamond stones that should fix it. Should I use the 40 degree or 30 degree? I was trying 40 since I heard they come at 60ish

40 degrees is 20 on each side and is a good setting for most EDC knives. The 30 degree is the "back bevel" which is the transition between the flat of the knife and the main grind. If you use this you will be moving the overall grind closer to a poor man's convex. It's good for blades that will be cutting deep, say carving a roast. It eliminates the grind hanging up as it hits the material it's cutting.
