Ok so legear has one, plain edge except it is iin black coating, should i just get this, or try and go through customs and get the satin finish fro 150.
I mean I'm not a huge fan of black blades and they do attract more attention, but could i sand it down or something?
and one knife is better than no knife, even if it black coated

what is the coating on the 615 like, from a personal perspective and such, is wearing of the coating only an issue if you like try and baton with it or something hard use like that?

Ok, so for me this was really uncool, benchmade's decision to discontinue this model. Its a shame because I only just stumbled upon a "what your favourite benchmade thread", and there were quite a few who were favourable to the rukus and mini rukus.
So I checked the mini rukus out and was like I want one, now.
Hoever, the next day they are discontinued, anyway, to make a long story short, I can't find any online to buy, they are all out of stock, surprise surprise.

So... what do you think is a reasonable alternative folding knife that is just as good as the mini-rukus. Are the griptillians any good.? Also, I'd like the blade to be no more than 4 inches long.
The reason I liked this model so much was bacuase it got positve reviews, was a really good blade length and seemed like an ideal knife for hiking, as its tough and not too heavy.

Also on a side note, has benchmade told us why they decided to discontinue the 610 and 615 models?

I am an avid hiker, and I own a Mini Rukus. At 5.9 oz, it's far too heavy for me to want to carry hiking. I find a 3-inch, 3 oz folder works well for me.

If you want to tote a larger knife, a G10 military has a 4-inch blade and weights 4.2 oz, and seems stout enough for most uses.

I love my mini Rukus. It and my Bone Collector are some of my favorite woods bumming folders ever. I recently got 2 615's at my local sporting goods store clearance for $279... For both!

There's an assisted opening version of the mini-rukus in black that may be still available.

just remember the restrictions our lovely customs service has put on all Benchmade knives featuring the Axis Lock mechanism.

sort out thy paperwarfare prior to shipping.

"Assisted Opening" = Illegal To Own In Australia Without A Mountain Of Bureaucratic Aggravation.
