It is removable. I took the scales out and hit them with hot water and soap, I may do that again and try a brush this time. Also citristrip may be worth it to grab too.

So finally got a little time to spend on this guy.... took the thumbstud off and then hit the blade with some more 400 grit, I don't have any 200 or 600 so I just used what i still had. I think I have this my pinnacle here, this thing is just polishing at this point. I need to put this on a wheel and do a hollow grind if I want to get passed this point, otherwise I think I'm just gonna rock this with all it's personality. Then I hit the blade again with the stones and did a much lower degree angle and worked on the tip. LEt me know what you think but at this point I think this is as good as it gets. I sent another email to BM about a clip, we will see what happens there. Now I'm going to use this thing and carry it for work since my FIL isn't interested in it.

Hollow grind, yeah! sweet knife though, even if ya kept the scratches for the story.

Ya, a hollow grind would be nice. maybe a whole blade job by REK knives.... How do I tag REK?

Been stupid busy with HVAC during this shutdown so.......

finally got some citristrip, stuff works really well:

Still need the new blade or at least a clip. I want it to be a great work knife. Let's see how this works out.
