Benchmade Nimravus?

I've made a few custom sheaths for these knives. Nice knife, IMO, but I'd also like to see scales that are flush (by not flushing them, though, they save a lot on finish and fit time). The stock sheath is nice, but it's bulky compared to a well made Kydex or Concealex number.

There was no edge retention on the ATS34 from the 812s. It dulled in a minute. The two other 154CM i had and have are pretty good.
I don't think this is indicitative of ATS-34 though, just likely a variance in the heat treating. ATS-34 is a solid steel for light to medium cutting in regards to edge holding.

Angle was about 30°. Exactly ground, no way to think other than it is the intended angle.
For that specific one yes, but in general did Benchmade change the angle on the knife. Does Benchmade still have a forum?

Thanks for the link, I just read a few of the threads, not as Benchmade biased as you might expect. There are hard core fans there, but there didn't seem to be the extreme cultism that tends to foster in such tight groups.

Yes, there are many hard-core fans, including me ;)

But we're not blind, I think. I like that place, beside of much small-talk, there are some very useful and interesting topics.

I have an old Nimravus, marked pre-production: 0894 of 1000.
It carries BM's and Elishewitz's marks on the blade, but no steel designation.

Is it ATS-34?

Regardless, it's been my camp/glove box/emergency kit knife for a number of years and has been used for everything from everyday cutting, to opening cans of food, to aiding in the splitting of wood. I have no complaints or regrets about it.
