Benchmade or Spyderco - make a choice

I will not go in depth about the QC aspect of SP versus BM since it seems to be the consensus that BM scores really low in the QC and CS aspects of the business, but I just want to say that I have yet to receive a BM knife that is flawed out of the box (*knocks on wood - then again I might not have as many as the rest of you folks- most of mine are balis)

but I would like to say that BM's CS is top notch - on the other hand I have yet to avail of Spyderco's CS.

I only owned one spyderco and returned it cause it just didn't suit my fancy.

You will have no worries (besides maybe a week's wait in the mail) with BM's CS. THey are friendly prompt and sometimes even astounding.

What I find is the important factor in BM vs SP is their designs. SP seems to weigh more intot he 'user' or work knife designs while BM seems to cater to (pardon the overuse of the term) 'tactical' market.

If you were to choose I would think looks woudl be the deciding factor. Just me.

I'm getting away from production knives, but I still look, and I still like. Between these two companies I have to say Spyderco, for just a great collection of inovative designs, and a Custom Collaboration list that's second to none.

I don't own anything from BM, and I'm not looking for one. I own three Spydercos, and if I were to start collecting any production knives this would be the company.

And now, I'm going to attempt to post my first photo here of my Spydercos...drum roll please...

I have knives from both companies and I must say I really enjoy my Benchmade over my Spyderco. I understand that Benchmade has a quality control problem and Spyderco doesn't, maybe I got lucky but my Benchmade is a pretty good knife. Thanks James Mattis for looking it over before sending it to me.

I own a BM 710 and Spyderco Cricket, Spydercard, and BF native.

I'd have to go with the Spydercos. I do enjoy the 710 but my preference for my Spydercos is based on the fact that the hole is easier for me to use to open than the thumb studs on the 710. If my hands are sweaty, I have problems with my fingers slipping off the stud. I don't have that problem with the Spydercos.

Both are good knives, and I own several of each. But I'm finally fed up with BM's dull
blades. I won't buy another BM untill they correct that problem. How can Kershaw consistently deliver a razor edge on their
nifty Blackout, for example, and BM can't
do the same on their models costing twice
the money? Spyderco knives also come sharp
in the box, but isn't that what we should
expect/demand?
