I have been seriously thinking about buying one of the benchmade osborne 900 series knives (930, 940, 950, or 960). I am leaning toward a 940 or 960 but I am interested in hearing any thoughts from owners if they are a good EDC and which would be recommended. Thanks for any thoughts.

I'm not a fan of the 940's blade shape, so I got a 943. Love that knife! It's super thin, and light, and the axis lock is silky-smooth. The black anodized aluminum scales look good enough that you can pass it off as a dress folder, but it certainly can take care of business. If I didn't love my Mini-Manix just as much, I'd probably carry the 943 every single day.

I have an Osborne 943 also. It's my everyday carry knife and has been one of my most useful tools ever. The 154CM steel holds an edge very well. I am looking for a slightly smaller knife for a dress folder.

I have a Benchmade 943 Osborne that I carry everyday. Its black, with a black serrated SV30 blade. Its a very clean looking, classy knife. Its the epitomy of a tactical/defensive folder IMO, yet doesn't neccessarily look like it. Mine was even sold in a blue box, which was a suprise as I figured it would be a Black or perhaps Grey box. They aren't cheap, but worth every penny IMO. Its a very comfortable knife to carry and a superior choice for EDC. To me, the folding mechanism/lock is much smoother than my Griptillians.

I used to carry my 3300 Infidel or Mini Reflex everyday, but I find myself carrying my 943 more and more. I trust my Infidel 100% and its my prefered EDC, but its a little large and breaking a Benchmade folder seems inconceivable to me, which isn't how I feel about the 3300-no matter how durable it is or how much I like it. Before I got my 943, I carried a CRKT M16Ti, which is an excellent folder but seriously outclassed by the Benchmade.

I have had many quality folding knives, but my 943 is my favorite. You won't regret buying one...

I've been EDC'ing my 940 for a couple years now. I took the clip off and it rides standing up (tip up) next to my wallet in my back pocket. I don't even know it's there.

I like the blade shape of the 940. I use it for everything that I cut and haven't had a problem with it.

921 is my favorite of the bunch, but I had a few 941 variants for a while and they were pretty great, too. I don't see anyone going wrong with any Osborne-designed knife.

I've had my 940 for three years now and still love it, as a matter of fact it made all of my other folders obsolete. So I've carried it edc ever since. My only complaint is the black clip it came with got scratched quickly and so I got a silver clip and it looks good and functions the same. The green anodized handle has a few nicks in it but over all has surprised me in its resilience. I would highly recommend this knife.

I have a red 960 that's pretty nice. In fact, I would say that it will probably be the nicest knife I will ever own. Amazing craftsmanship, great design, perfect action.

i got a 960 used but in new shape at my local gunstore for 70 dollars with box and paper and bag to boot! I dont think it was ever used and i really didnt like it to start with but after carrying it for a while i think its one of the best benchmade knifes offered for a good pocket carry knife!Very thin but very stong and it doesnt offend many people in public when i use it because of the size and i reckon the red color so its kind of sheepie friendlly

I think you'll find a HUGE fan base out there for the Benchmade Osborne 94x series. Of these, my favorite's the 943.

With the anodised black handles,Axis mechanics, and a 3.4 satin finished PE clip point blade in S30V (and the older 154cm blade ain't bad either...) it's a beautiful thing.

Put it in your pocket and you'll forget its there.

There's my .02!

This is one GREAT SERIES of knives! The 940 is REAL NICE! I just got the 930 and it is REAL NICE! You will be happy with any of that series. GOOD LUCK! Kevin

Glad to see all the positive comments on the 943! I deliberated long and hard on that one versus a Ritter Grip for EDC. I think I would have been happy with either, but the 943 compliments my other EDC (the aforementioned Mini-Manix) better, I believe. I also have the newer, S30V steel. So far, it's performed very well. Holds a nice edge (almost on par with the 154cm Benchmade uses, but not quite, IMO), and no chipping. Great slicer also. I did pull it out at work the other day, to help a co-worker with some cutting, and got a few wide-eyed looks. I imagine it would have been a lot worse if I'd pulled out another one of my "tacti-cool" folders, but the 943 definitely has a no-nonsense look about it that gives some people pause. And no, I didn't flick it open. That move has serious freak-out potential around most types of folks, especially the ones I work with!

loved my 940 but i gave it to my father. been edc-ing the 950 since it came out and it's incredible. a bit more blade, a bit more handle but still slim and easy carry. the two-tone g10 might not be for everyone but other than that it's close to perfect for my needs.

I'm a fan of the 960. It's one of the most confortable folders I've held from BM. Great little gents knife IMO.

Ever since I got my 940D2CF several months ago, I've carried practically nothing else. The blade profile isn't as sexy as the 941, but it's extremely utilitarian in use. I love the slim profile; it packs plenty of EDC bladelength into a knife that's far, far less bulky than a 710, 805, or even a Griptilian.

I'd love to try the 930 sometime too.

This is one GREAT SERIES of knives! The 940 is REAL NICE! I just got the 930 and it is REAL NICE! You will be happy with any of that series. GOOD LUCK! Kevin

I've been seriously considering the 930. What do you like and dislike about it?

I have a 950 Rift and like it very much. The comment of it being a larger 940 is about what I was thinking.

i have the 930.. and love it.. the only complaint (which is completely personal) is that when the knife is folded, the top of the blade sticks into the palm of the hand when u hold it.. which the 943 doesn't seem to have..

it's the bit just left of the butterfly logo (1cm to the left on the picture).. (sorry i don't know what it's called)
but yeh.. it's just in the design of the blade and very minor... beautiful knife otherwise.. not that i know much about knives but it's my 2c

realllly thinking about buying the 943 now
