Benchmade pricing seems to have changed

Looks like Benchmade prices online have recently went up dramatically. Before you could log in to see the better price, or enter a promo code, or email for the price. That seems to be gone now.

I was looking to order a couple knives, for example the 707 which last week was $100 and now when I went to order its $136.

I called knifecenter and they said as of Friday last week they no longer can do any discount on Benchmade which accounts for atleast a 30% price increase.

Does anyone know if this applies for ordering through a physical store as well? If it does then Benchmades pricing just got really ridiculous.

I never understood Benchmade's policy regarding pricing. It's confusing for consumers. Even though higher prices are seen as not so good, I think a rethink of the way pricing was set up is a good move.

I contacted 3 online knife retailers that a lot of us use regularly and they said that BM has reiterated that they need to stick to a strict policy and no discounts if they want to continue to sell BM stuff. I was going to buy another 940 until I saw that I now instead of paying $130 I have to pay $178. Not gonna happen. I'll just redirect my funds to other manufacturers again.

There are still places that accept coupon codes like KnifeWorks and others. However, I don't know for how long.

Artificially raising their prices is just stupid. If they already offer them to dealers at a price cheap enough for them to offer 25% off the list price then the knives simply aren't worth what they want them to be.

I've been really wanting a 940, but I'd never pay 180 for one.

Agreed. I think a 940 at the $140 or so Street price is right, they just need to stop the whole coupon code malarkey

There is a certain Shoppe on the web that sells Cutlery, they still have the 25% off coupon. I hope that holds, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when discount codes are suspended. I used to be a massive Orient watch fan, they had a similar system and then decided to remove it one day. I haven't bought an Orient watch since...

I want to buy benchmade knives. I appreciate the workmanship, axis, American made, and warranty. But even before this the steep prices seemed unwarranted for the product in a lot of cases. I wish they would have just taken away the coupon/log in ridiculousness and lowered the prices to (or lower than) the coupon/login price.

Now I have to go check the site I would use.

It is a shame BM did with such a bad timing being holiday season and all. I understand BM wants to keep value up for their name and fame. But if they want to appeal value vs. price, it is not right moment to re-enforce this policy. As others stated, it only makes end buyer to buy less, lost opportunity for BM knife as a gift to others who would be introduced as next Benchmade fans.

MFL

The price of a 556 Mini Grip at gpknives.com went from $65 to $85 overnight due to this policy.

Try a different online retailer. It may just be knifecenter.

Tried a few actually...gpknives, bladehq, knifeworks, they all no longer have the option to get the reasonable prices...

Edit: Knifeworks actually still works but who knows how long, so will buy there if they have them in stock before the prices turn redonkulous.

ouch.... full msrp is the knife enthusiasts worst nightmare! I personaly wouldn't pay msrp for any benchmade on the market right now. They are making a mistake.

And I love me some benchmade, for the record.

just got in under the wire I guess! In a way I agree with BM, but at the same time, they're making themselves uncompetitive. Would have been better, if they wanted to encourage people to patronize authorized dealers and send a message, to *lower* their MSRP to the levels at which dealers would be happy selling, and then institute a no-discount policy.

Then again, nobody ever accused me of being smart with money, so maybe they know something that I don't.

There are at least two places mentioned in this thread that still accept coupon codes. Better order today!

Wow. I just checked out gpknives too. The 810bk was going to be my next purchase but not at full retail. Yikes! I love BM, have many, but this is really not good.

I know knifeworks is still working. Just placed an order for a 707 and a 525 (already have one but wanted backup since its discontinued). The price difference I saved was $85 on my order!

They werent open so couldn't confirm stock but wanted to lock in price. Whats the other place that still works so I can have a backup?

Thanks
