It still marks up when you use it (I cut a credit card offer pack in half, and it marred it, as did cardboard), and I don't have any first-hand experience with the old BT2, but I'm sure it's much tougher and wear resistant.

That's interesting. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on buying a 710. I was hoping for the newer BK coating to be available. BM's catalog says the new BK1 coating has "much better wear resistance" than the BT2.

Cutting a credit card offer marred the finish on the BK1? Doesn't sound very tough. Is the BT2 better in this regard?

In all fairness, cuting cardboard or a thick paper stack will show wear on TiN or carbon boron oxide coatings too.

i knew i had seen one before somewhere and i found it. so they are out there, probably just a very very few. its the only one ive heard of.

Half (or more!) of Patryn's BM collection falls in the rare/unique catagory.

FYI, it looks as though the new 806D2 AFCKs also have the new BK1 coating. Even though I got my 710HS and am loving it, I can't get over the AFCK handle, so I ordered one of those as well.
