Benchmade reliability?

Hey Aldebaran. I just received 4 of my BM's back from the factory. (AFCK, MINI-AFCK, 910, 812). Sent a note with the concerns I had on each and a check for $12.50 ($5 for the first knife and $2.50 for each additional) for the lifesharp, (no receipt of purchase). I removed the clips before shipping. They sent back the knifes in blue boxes with new screws, washers and clips. All of them functioned like new. It took about 3 weeks for the turn around but could not have asked for better service. Nice people to deal with. Give it a try and post your results, I think you will be happy.

I'm sorry for your bad luck. I'm more of BM than Spydie, but then again, I'm caught in the spyderweb anyway, and am feeling comfortable getting caught. :)
I've always thought BM to be one of the more trustworthy and reliable brand. But some bad thing can happen, I presume. While I had no trouble with my BMs and Spydercos, I had a serious trouble with a knife from one of the prominent makers (I'll not reveal the name). I experienced three defects with that knife, and two of them serious. That experience really shook my faith with that brand. Though, with all problem solved (either at local shop or by myself), I got to love the knife and am still using it. It's pretty good knife basically, and the manufacturer bungled with a few final touches for my discomfort.
Too bad you got three bad lucks in a row. That's too much. But, I hope you'd be able to get your knives fixed and enjoy them. Think it as all your bad lucks for the year in a single package. It came and gone. Hope there'll be smooth ride from now on.

And they wonder why I like a fixed blade...BTW, as someone else asked, how does one "lose" the tip off a knife?

I had started a new thread on the results of my sending my knives to Benchmade for warranty. The thread was titled: "Knives back from Benchmade" and had around 8 replies. It is now gone. Would the moderators delete threads without any discussion or notification to a poster?

I am a little surprised to see that the thread has dissappeared. I wish the mods would make it clear what the thread was deleted for if they in fact did delete it.
