Benchmade Ritter Grips!

tlavas,
How can you tell that the clip is parkerized?
I ask because my two Ritters came with painted clips that scratched easily.
Thanks.

It will have a dull, oxide look to it and the 'Benchmade' stamp will be sharp compared to the painted clip.

They also say benchmade USA , where as the painted ones just say benchmade ...

Correct.
Pictures are worth a thousand words:

He must have the M4 addition. They have parkerized clips in conjunction with the DLC coating.

Mine is not M4 it's S30V, here are pics of what I bought and it does have parkerized clips...It has Benchmade USA on it as in the pics...

It's cool that the regular models have the parkerized clips, too. I thought that the regular [Ritters] offered didn't, or at least the [Ritters] offered from Aeromedix didn't, but I must be wrong. The parkerized clips show no wear, so it's great that they come with this.

editted for clarification

I have a mini in M4 and love the knife, perfect size for EDC. If I had a complaint it would also be the handle material.

Yeah, I've got a standard Ritter I got from Aeromedix that had a parkerized clip. I had started to beat up the finish so I sanded it off. Looks cool with the black lettering on the clip.

BFO #42: Every knife has two ends. (blinding flash of the obvious)

Running back: My Ritter RSX-MK1 S30V blade cuts everything I want it to cut.

Offensive Line: It's no fun to use a knife without a handle. I would label this grip

as functional but a little "plastic sounding" when you tap on it. I prefer the Axis

lock. I am down to about 12 folding knives and it would make my Top Five list

You can contact Benchmade and ask them for the parkerized clips and they'll ship them to you at no cost to you. I have done that before to replace the painted clips. I also requested some of the satin finished clips for a mini Ritter grip as that clip contrasted well with the black handle and also matched the stonewashed blade better.

I know I’m in the minority when I say I like the grip in the standard catalog configurations. 551, 550, 556, 555. The way I see it, the blade steel is above average in fact it’s perfect for the job the grip was made for. The handle with the Norly GTX/ Valox is almost indestructible but needs a redesign in a few areas.

Putting S30V, M390, D2 and M4 is overkill for a knife such as this.
Yes…I know most disagree. No problemo,:) we all get what we want with the huge number of current variations available and the future LE’s to come.

The clip is a non issue. BKC will give you what you want.

Originally RSK Mk1 was born as an affordable knife you can bet your life on.
Blade is of perfect shape and edge. Made of a great steel (S30V).
Griptilians are one of the best selling budget knives ever and first it's handles performance has been taken to consideration by Doug in cunjunction with the budget price.
If we would forget what we know and used to, most of us would choose griptilian handle over the most fancy flat and sharp edges of G-10. Some may say griptilian handles are cheap and "sounds" plastic, but overall the combination makes the perfect budget knife, which is trully one of the best value and performer out there for the budget. You can cut for extended periods comfortably without wasting your fingers and skin. Grip just right for about any task.
I prefer regular RSK over mini, because I have a large palm. I am looking forward to get an orange one now to have it in my backpack.

A most interesting thread.

I wish Doug Ritter, BM and their new dealer, Knifeworks, much success with these products.

In my opinion, the Benchmade Ritter Grips are some of the best knives on the planet. They are relatively affordable, the axis lock is rock solid, and the blade shape/grind is absolutely perfect.

What do you think of the Ritter Grips?

I agree. The only thing that could make it better would be different handles. I don't like the rubbery feel of the Grips.
