Hey does anybody own this knife? I'm thinking of getting this knife I know its big but I need some imput. I have 2 AFCK now and love Benchmade quailty. Any Help out there??:)

If you do a search you will come up with a lot of info. fast. From what i have heard they are great knives if you like them big.

But do a search and you will more info. than that.;)

I pawed one at the store last week, big is an understatement. Its a huge folder. A lot of people like it, but its not for me. Too big for EDC, and if I need a knife that big, I'll go fixed blade.

It's my favorite knife. Although it's big, it's easier for me to carry than the Manix. The handle is very comfortable for me, and the blade opens so easily and smoothly that it's a joy to use. (May look scary as heck to others, however.)

The blade came extremely sharp, and it was such a good cutter that I practiced slicing elaborate windows into the side of a Kleenex box. It's sabre ground, but still a great cutter. The blade carries a lot more heft to the point than the Manix, which is another great knife. Perfect balance.

For me, the worry was the S30V steel. You can read Cliff's report on chipping he found in S30V in the testing forum. I've had mixed luck with S30V. Some of my blades have chipped badly. Some not at all.

So I took this knife out and used it to split hard, dry Doug fir firewood, whacking large rounds and prying off big sticks of kindling -- not really the way you might want to treat a knife. But if it's going to fail, I want to know up front.

There was no damage to the edge, still razer sharp; and the knife took the prying in stride. Still stolid lockup. Blade still centered. Still opens like silk.

Great knife!

I've handled a couple and they felt great. Not Manix good, but very good nonetheless. The action was great, as are all axis locks, and I actually really like how it looked altogether. Only two complaints:

This knife is BIG--way too big for me. A MINI mini rukus (yes, two minis) would be about right)

The cost is too high--been seeing it for 190ish. You can pick up a Manix at NGK for like 110. I mean, I get you pay a little more for the axis lock, but not 60% more.

But I still really liked it, and if I had a place for a huge folder, it would definitely be high on my list.

If you look hard enough you can pick one up for about 160. That'still 50 dollars more than the Manix though. Unless the axis is a must, the Manix is a better knife for the money. I have both the Manix and the Rukus. If I feel the need to carry a big knife, the Manix is the one I choose everytime. In fact, I think I've only carried the Rukus a few times.

I own both the 610 and the Manix and love them both. Great knives all around and each has its advantages in different areas. The Rukus to me feels like a fixed blade when opened and is very solid with a great sized and shaped blade. The problem with the 610 is that I often find it to pretty to use...I end up using the Manix for hard tasks while the 610 sits on its throne looking pretty :D .

The 610 and the Manix are both large folderss but the Manix has its place as the pure business flolder while the 610 is a little more classy but still can get down to business.
