benchmade rukus

I am about to purchase a benchmade rukus from either Best knives in Ft. Meyers or The Blade Shop in knoxville Tenn. Both sell it for 169.95. These were the best prices i could find. I would appreciate any feedback about dealing with either of these stores anyone may have as well as any comments/critiques on the rukus. Thanks in advance

A poster and supported and dealer on Blade Forums is Grand Prairie Knives in Troy Illinois. Their price on the Rukus is $156.25 and is in stock now and also ships the same day if placed before noon.
They are a major source for all my factory blades. They are consistently in stock ship at once and have the lowest prices in most cases. Great people to do business with and you will NOT have any trouble at all. Just the best!

Peace.

IMO, they are one of the strongest folding locking systems you will find on the market today..

Agreed. You know that buyer's remorse feeling you get sometimes with a questionable (or expensive) knife purchase? As I mentioned, I returned a BM 3550 for a BM 5500 based simply on the quality and strength of the axis lock. I was quoted 200lb vs 800lb+ to break, but take that with a grain of salt.

I can open my 610 just as quickly as my autos, thanks to the axis. If you pull back on the lock, the blade swings freely. Even the little 940 series opens and closes rapidly. You have two springs that need to fail for the lock itself to fail.

One really great feature is the ability to open, cut and close with one hand and motion.
Pull back on the lock (or kick out with thumb stud),
swing the blade around slightly,
let go of the lock,
cut,
reverse.
pocket.

The ability to close just as quick is what makes it faster than my autos which I have to close by wrap closing on my thigh. I haven't been able to play with the BM OTF Infidel yet.

Thanks for the hook-up with your source for production knives! I'll order my next 'fix' from them.

damn it. Thanks a lot you guys. Now I have to add yet another knife to my must have soon list! Im gonna have to sell myself to the blood bank to keep the wife from finding out!

diversionmary, you could just put a drop of blue loctite on the screw once you get it where you want it and that should take care of having to retighten it anytime soon. That is what I did. Don't have any pics, but it do look good!:) The ivory micarta grips should really set it off as a looker, and it will still be a very functional user!:D

Btw, I did completely disassemble the knife to satin finish the edges of the liners. It is not a difficult task and goes right back together with ease. Better to do it this way and avoid the gumming up of the action with any dust created by the sanding.

I haven't ever dissasembled an axis lock, do they go back together easy?

Edit: I meant specifically the axis lock portion (springs), the rest of the knife seems easy to work on

I have a Ruckus coming Monday. I will be carrying it most of the time in the way I carry my Manix: in a friction-fit, custom made, open-top leather sheath. For those that are interested, the sheath can be made to just about any idea you can come up with. My Manix shealth is tilted forward with a little more knife exposed than the standard sheath. I designed it this way for a faster draw and I must say, it works great. For the Ruckus, I'm told it can be made for tip-up or tip-down carry and with or without the clip. I also asked about a snap cover and that can also be added for a more descreet appearance. The cover could also have 2 snaps on the backside so it could be removed.

If interested, go to E-bay and search on "manix sheath" and a number or his sheaths will come up. To me, they add an alternative for carrying a few of my large knives, when needed or desired.

Regards
