Benchmade Rukus

Great knife. It is big though, I prefer the mini. Even the mini is a handful and I have big hands.
Benchmade quality and CS is outstanding.

If you want a big beefy knife that won't break your bank... I high suggest the Rukus. It's a really substantial knife for the money. It is big so you better make sure you want to carry a brick in your pocket all day. I owned one for a while and it is a great folder. I can't say anything bad about it.

The Rukus is probably one of my favorite BM products. It is a big folder yet extremely smooth and can easily be opened without a wrist flick. It has an excellent blade shape and uses S30V. Whenever you read a thread on here about big heavy use folders the Rukus almost always gets a mention.

I got a sheath made for mine mostly for hunting season and ranch work because I spend most of my time on and off ATVs and walking. The sheath lets that big folder disappear. For everyday use it rides surprisingly well in the pocket with the deep carry clip, nobody would ever know you had a 4.25" blade with you.

And well it's just wrong to have a thread about a knife without some pics.

No doubts about its quality but it is beyond me how this size a folder could be useful. It is too big to carry easily or concealed. You could as well carry a 5 inch fixed blade.

I love mine, it's awesome, but it is a big knife. You may want to look at the mini-Rukus as well before you decide.

Is this knife why Benchmade discontinued the 630 Skirmish? I really liked that knife better purely based on specs.

Ah, but a 5 inch fixed blade, by definition, does not fold. The average handle length of a 5 in fixed is about, what, 4-6 in? You slap that on to the 5 in blade and add on the sheath.... Not quite the same as a large folder.

It is a great knife. They almost dissappear in your pocket with the low ride pocket clip. It is a monster of a folder. It is 10"+ open. It weighs like 6+ ounces as well. I used mine in a sheath and it worked well. The mini is a big knife as well but much more managable IMHO. They are one of the stongest folder in the BM line.

I have one that is currently my EDC. Its big. Bigger than I thought it would be. However I like beefy folders and the Rukus is truly that. Its got a lot of gripping area which I like. Overall its a great knife IMO.

Here is a photo of mine with my other EDC's.

I like Big folders, and I sold my full size Rukus and bought a mini Rukus. Great knife no matter what size.

I've only played with one large Rukus. I thought the detent on it was a little on the week side. At the same size, I'd pick the large Hardtail over the Rukus.

I've been sporting one around for a while now and its a GREAT knife... Not just cause Neil is a bud of mine either;)

ive got both sizes, i love those rukus knives, one of the best bm has ever made.blades are scary sharp, very nice comfortable handles. i mirror polished the liners, pocket clips, & all screws, & it looks even better than original.

Even the Mini Rukus is a big knife in the hand. Not as big length-wise, but it's still a thick handful of a knife. And a pocketful in the pants. I guess it's a preference between comfort in hand over extended use, and comfort of carry.

I only have the mini-ruckus, and man do I love that knife. Sure it is bulky but that is not a big deal. The blade comes amazingly sharp and cuts like a laser. The handle could be hit or miss for some people, but i personally love the ergos and how it does not have that pocket shredding blister causing checkering that so many G-10 knives have. The axis is my favorite locking system by far and just ads to the shear quality of the knife.

I’ve got a mini and have used it extensively when back backing. The blade even see’s use in my EDC rotation. I love the knife, no its not small and no its not light (the full size would be even less small and less light) but it’s a very, very usable knife, cuts like the devil and is just a fun knife to own.
