I have a ZT 300 and i'm thinking my next knife might be a Benchmade Rukus. any1 have both knives i want to see how the size compares of the 2. i wanted 3 knives . right now i have a zt 350 , zt 300 and maybe the rukus

any1 else have the rukus and know how it compares to the zt300?

I handled a ZT0200 and ZT0300 and bought a Mini Rukus. :) I swapped out the pocket clip and it's solid as hell now. The blade shape of the Rukus series makes them more agile cutters and the Axis lock.... Rukus series all the way.

I have a 301& a bm mini rukus. You won't be dissapointed with the rukus, it is a better slicer, and a very nice knife overall. The 301 is about as solid of a folder you could want, but it is suited better for some tasks over others. I'm in northern Michigan this week and I used the he'll out of both knives, both are still shaving sharp. When I get back home I'll post some pics before I clean and lube everything. Basically get the rukus, it will be a great addition to your collection.

Good luck!

any blade play with the axis lock and how is benchmades warranty?

is the handle comfy? any complaints about it?

yea the zt300 has a slight recurve but it's not excessive which still makes it very usefull . would also baton better and pry (if i had to in a certain situation)

rukus has different uses why i want it.

swapped out the pocket clip?

I own both and as of late I've noticed the Rukus gets more pocket time and use. It just has a more useful blade in my opinion. That said I won't be parting with either any time soon, both are some of my favorite knives.

any negative feedback on the rukus? i really want to know the good and the bad about the knife b4 i get it.. this will be my last knife for a very long time.

clip, grip, finger groves, not having a spacer, too big for EDC come on give me at least something... but hey if there is nothing even better

and thx A LOT for the pics those help out to see the size of the knife.

seems like the zt is more of a heavy duty knife where the rukus is more of a slicer. both have there uses

I've had my Mini Rukus for about a week and already love it. It's one of the most comfortable knives I've handled. The only thing about the 610 Rukus I've heard people having a pet peeve about the double-sided torx screws. IIRC, you need to get the tension on both just right. Do you guys that have the 610 know what I'm talking about or is that BS? The only predominant complaint I've heard is about the pocket clip. I swapped mine out, see here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=658721 and now it's perfect, though I'd like to get a black clip. :D

yea i herd the clip on it sucked also.. only good thing about it is that it's a deep pocket clip

any1 else want to add somethign in b4 i pull the trigger?

or any1 have any other rec for a knife other then the rukus? i want something with around a 4 inch blade and a good steel. strong lock

I've never had a problem with the double sided torx. In fact I can loosen one side up and tighten up the other and still have it come out fine. I don't see how one side needs to match the other.

And yes the only small grievance I have with the knife is that the clip is a little weak compared to others. But with the deep carry and weight of this knife I've never had it come close to falling out. And I guess one pro of the clip is that the knife can be drawn from the pocket with ease.

Yeah, I didn't think it sounded right either. :) Guess it's BS then.

"Little weak"? It's the weakest clip I've ever seen. MOF, I've seen better clips on cheap Asian knockoffs. I carried one day with that clip and then immediately took it off knowing I'd need to get a better one on there. It's a shame that BM hasn't changed the darn thing yet. Some guys won't buy the Rukus because of just the clip alone. Hey, I don't care but the more they sell the likelier it'll stay in production. I'd like to see it stay around in case I want another in the future. :D

I pretty much carry two Rukus every day, and have never once had a problem with the clip. Have had the full size for over two years, the mini for over a year.
Only complaint on the clip, the black coating does not last.:jerkit:

Well it has does have to do with how you have the clip positioned in the cutout on the scale. If you don't have it seated correctly it will be even weaker.

I used to a Fallkniven PXL which was a very smooth knife, just like the Rukus. It also had a deep carry clip. The only difference was it was a very stiff clip and only several occasions I had to use two hands to get it out of my pocket. Smooth knife + deep carry + stiff clip is not a fun combination. I think there may be a reason behind the weak clip. If they added a stiff clip to the Rukus I think you would have to use a lanyard with it, just my opinion.

well if that's the only downside to the knife u guys can give me i'm going to pull the trigger on friday............

the rukus seems to be a heavy duty slicer i'm looking for.

i really got to stop reading this forums.. i see a new knife i want ever week my wallet can't take it anymore

E mail Benchmade, with 2 weeks a new clip will be in your mailbox for free. At least that is how it worked for me when I picked up my used Rukus.

Nah, I just sanded them and gave them a satin finish. Works fine for me. If I get new ones, how long will the black finish last? Did they make some improvement in staying power there? Really, I do not understand this "weak clip" issue at all. The ones on my two seem pretty stout. I even bent them for a tighter grip on my pockets, they are still stout. I used to work around rail car components, and I drug mine on big immovable objects every day, never bent one a fraction of an inch. What are you people doing to your Rukus clips that you think they are weak?

Typically if I want black clips, I just slide on some black heat shrink tubing, put a piece of cardboard between the body and the clip, and hit it with a heat gun. Presto, black clip that lasts for ever, unless you bump into something rough.

Another fix is black traction tape. I bought a couple of sheets at Home Depot. Have a bunch of pieces already made that I can put on whenever I choose.

The traction tape is a bit more durable than the heat shrink tubing.

For those who like their pink kitty knives, you can get pink heat shrink tubing.:D

It's flimsy and I can too easily slip the knife from my pocket with the original clip. I like a little grab from my clips but the Rukus's clip doesn't have it. It's probably because of the design. I've never had a clip that wasn't solid, unlike the Rukus's. I have peace of mind with my transplanted Kershaw clip. I love the Rukus otherwise. Excellent cutter, ergos, and the Axis lock.

Remove clip.
Bend clip.
Re-install clip.
Tighter fit.

That is what I did, clip fits solid now, does not slip out of pocket easily.
I ahve had to do that to many knives, including Kershaws. In fact the onyl knife I have not had to do that to was my lone Wolf Harsey Tactical T3.
