very cool but probably a bit bulky for a mini - the standard model has only a 3.4" blade.

Ask TKC about it. He has mini version. Not really... He has a smaller Shane Sibert full custom. I'm not sure about the size of his blade, but I would like a mini from BM with less than 3" blade.

EDIT: Read some more on benchmade's forum... Many think that 3.4" blade is very likely a mistake in the catalog. Blade is probably a tad under 3". Many will be upset, but this is a perfect size for me :)

TKC is a she.
EDIT: I think.

I think it will be pretty good alternative to Strider SNG or Hinderer XM-18

hmm yeah 3.8 closed 6.9 overall gives a blade length of 3.1" not 3.4" so it's more of a PT than an SNG

I don't think Shane's folders were designed to be slim folders. They're hummers.

I'd prefer the 3.4 blade size as sub 3 is a bit too small for a beefy folder like this one IMHO. Interested to hear more about the steel. I googled it and it looks like its from Canada http://www.bucanada.ca

They also stock that SLEIPNER® Steel used in the "ambitious folder" that Lion is producing.

I guess that CPM issues has cause the industry to "try new things" which is good for a steel junky needing the next fix.

looks good, but tip-down only is a dealbreaker. the new dive knives look promising, though.

I LOVE it. Would be nice to see how this stacks up against zdp and s110v.

This is the same steel that kershaw is using for the volt. I do not think they have stated a rockwell hardness for their blade yet.
