Benchmade Skirmish or CR Sebenza?

Yep, both the larger 520 and the smaller 525 model have 154CM blades.
At least the ones I've owned, perhaps there have been some limited runs
with different steel?

Yes, there was one I know about - 520A with S30V blade.

AFAIK it was offered by AHS and based on special 5000 LE (S30V too, 100 pieces) for Germany with 3.25" blade.

I have a 630 Skirmish and a large classic Sebenza. I like them both. The 630 is kind of large and not always comfortable for pocket carry, it fills some pockets. But they are both fine knives and decently overbuilt.
I usually carry the 630 for hiking, defense, etc when a larger easily opened blade is better. The 'benza is in my pocket now at work. It is a better slicer and more sheeple friendly. I have the swedge on it, so the point is very acute for little details. Like cleaning under a pinky fingernail, or cutting a tightly closed ziptie.

i say it depends what you want it for. I personally like the Sebz. because of the more utility blade shape. The Skirmish is huge and isnt very practal to carry as an EDC as the CR Sebz would be. Both have a good soild lock, went i handleled both they were well ballanced. I would go for the CR Sebz. because of the blade shape being more utilitarian than the BM Skirmish, but thats me.

Thank you very much for all of the input; I think the best thing to do is to buy both knives.

Take care.

I've got both.

The Skirmish is a lot of knife, for a little money. I had heard there was some controversy relating to its design.

So I showed it to my wife. "Is that a new Spydie?". Hmm.

It's still a lot of knife for the money. A colleague of mine describes it as a practical knife for orc hunting. It looks *very* sheeple scary.

The Sebbie, despite being a lefty (all I could get pre-loved) is a much more carried knife. Looks like a knife; sharpens beautifully, doesn't scare the horses.

Out of the pair of them, I prefer my Manix. OK, the Sebbie.

But buy both. Me? I'm biding my time for my next knife. Which will be a Strider. Or a Lochsa. Or a Poliwog. Or a Gene Ingram fixed blade. Or another Gransfors Bruks axe [got to love an axe so sharp it slices through the sheath to bite your finger, just 'cos you haven't used it in a while]

I like the 630, but it's just a hair too big. And the 635 is too small. If they made a version that was 8.75" OAL, I'd snag it. The quality is great.

The fit/finish on the sebenza, though, is superb. Justifies the cost. Can't describe it - gotta see it "in person". I carred a Dama-woodie large sebenza for a good amount of time and loved it.
